Stumbled into this thread by accident (stupid phone) but pleased I did. Cars with stories like this are great.
Keep us updated.
Cheers.Keep us updated.
Today I threw a new panel filter in, old one was properly mingling. Was going to be stupid and put a cone filter on it but for once for some reason I came across all sensible and decided against it.

Brilliant buy OP, great to see something a bit oddball as a Reader's Car thread

Cone filter would have been cool though

Well done, great thread --
Cheers for the comments. Nothing worthwhile to update apart from I gave it it's first proper few hundred mile run yesterday, really chuffed with the way it performed. Going to get an oil and filter service done in the next week or 2. Am away to Barcelona for the F1 testing next week then back to Snetterton for some testing of my own in the Mx5 so got a busy few weeks So, we've just arrived back from Barcelona, massive thanks to all the guys at Martini Williams F1 Team for the hospitality, is amazing how many faces there are in an F1 paddock even during testing.
Top that off with the Barcelona beer festival + a Nou Camp tour and you have a pretty good week!
Back in the UK naturally the already dodgy battery on the SMX couldn't cope with being dormant. Luckily the one on my mates other Jap fresh import was much better!
So this morning I've fitted a fresh new Yuasa battery, slightly more expensive than usual due to the size but not a disaster.

I could swear I've just seen another one of these, but in a primer grey colour, drive past my office in Aberdeen
How jealous were you? Just saw this shared on the owners club, funny read....

So due to financial constraints it doesn't look like I'm going to be out in the race car much this year. This however does free up quite a bit of spare cash (don't ask how expensive UK club racing can be! ).
So this leaves me a dilemma, I don't really have the desire to run 2 cars, and I'm really enjoying the little Honda.
Do I replace it with something a little more exotic, or spend a few quid modifying it and keeping it... decisions.

So exciting news in SMX world last night. We sailed past 100,000km on route to Anstruther for some fish & chips.
No pictures unfortunately, I was on a date and didn't fancy explaining why I was so excited to take a picture of my speedometer

This is so uncool it's cool. Love it!
Not read the whole thread but didn't these come with a condom holder and were marketed as the "Joy machine" or similar?
Thanks, ax ex girlfriend once said something similar about me, I'm sure it's a compliment somewhere Not read the whole thread but didn't these come with a condom holder and were marketed as the "Joy machine" or similar?
And yes, Jalponik made a funny article about it as posted above

My pub recognition isn't what it used to be, but that looks like the Occidental in the ferry. That NSX has been round quite a bit recently..looks of course nothing compared to an SMX though
You'll be delighted to know your pub recognition skills are still functioning, it is indeed, just up from West End Honda I really like that! It's like you wanted to buy an NSX (who wouldn't?) and got too drunk to hit the right keys.
It's cool. Different, but not attention-seeking. Practical, but interesting as you never see stuff like that over here. And you're obviously enjoying dicking around with it. Lots of interesting history being an import etc too.
Thumbs up, will follow

Haha cheers, hit the wrong keys and didn't have enough zeros in my bank account!
I bet!Weird thing just now - I passed an SMX on the way in to work. Old boy round here owns one! Always seen it on his drive, never knew what it was until now. It's usually garaged. Plain looking silver one, no bodykit etc.
Also: What does 'baller' mean? I hear a lot of young 20-something's round here with sleeve tattoos, fuzzy beards, dodgey specs and skinny jeans using that term all the time, and no idea what the hell it's supposed to mean!
