see, I am a die-hard BMW fan but I am kinda gutted to see the SMX go and be replaced with a normal looking silver M3. And gutted I didn't know it was for sale as tbh I really want one now. that Jalopnik article totally sold it to me. Although I'd be really really happy with the 4x4 version for festivals!

I know, don't worry I'm off to Japan later in the year... you never know what'll happen after some more beer hehe

Greetings

Bear with me.

In the 24 years that I have been driving, I have owned and driven many different cars. Cars that I have bought for £50 and when I was a valet at a five star hotel, Porsche, Astons, Lambos, Ferraris, etc.

9 years ago, I saw a little orange box on wheels with a Honda badge in a side street garage. "You like it, don't you?" the salesman said to me, I clearly didn't have my poker face on.

Orange interior, 4WD, body kit, what was not to love? It just caught my idiotic sense of humour. I was finally talked out of it by my wife and I regretted that.

Everytime we changed our cars I looked out for them but, they were either not as good as my virgin encounter or 'not right at this time' rolleyes

At the beginning of this year, she who must be obeyed, bought herself a brand new car. There was now no excuse for me not to get what I wanted.

I joined the Honda S-MX OC on Faceache and waited to see if any came up, there were a few but, not what I wanted. There were examples in Japan that looked mint but at £5k OTR, that was out of the question.

I live in Cheltenham and was going to get up to Huddersfield for a Black one that was quite nice and I was ready to make the trip, I was just waiting for some additional images. I didn't want to make a wasted journey!

Whilst I was waiting and don't ask me why as I've never bought anything there before but, I had a look on Gumtree. As I suspected, nothing in my area but, I opened up the search to nationwide and was trawling through a load of honda bikes when all of a sudden...... there she was, from the photos, a near perfect example.

And so on Friday 15th July 2016, I hopped onto a train from Cheltenham Spa to Bristol Temple Meads, then a train to Bristol Airport, a delayed one way flight later and I was in Inverness! Daniel picked me up and I must have had that same look I had 9 years previously. I drive through Inverness and to the bank, with me sat in the passenger seat all the way. Yes, I never even drove her, I didn't need to.

At 16:20 I became the proud father (sorry to my actual kids) of X877 VRL! woohoowoohoo

A couple of stops and 12 hours later, I was back home, still beaming.

So, em177, Thank you so much for making your drunken purchase and restoring her beauty, it has been noticed. Sorry if this offends but, being an old git, I prefer the oem grill, do you still have it?

I know I could have just written the last two lines but, where's the fun in that?

Excellent. I'm fairly local (Stroud way) so shall keep an eye out for VRL. I totally get the love for weird little Japanses boxes. I have an inexplicable love for the Nissan Cube. One day...

I think I saw this at Evesham Country Park yesterday afternoon, photobucket has killed the images but it was black and had a PH sticker on the back.

It looked awesome!

Such a shame Photobucket ruined half of the forums on the internet.
Not the same without pictures.

aaah awesome mate thanks! Didn't think to look for an extension as I assumed the blocking would have been too robust!
Wonder how long it'll work?
