After being thoroughly entertained by this thread for over a year now ( reading it every few months down the pub with a pint), I was also horrified to see what happend to your car. very glad you and your daughter got out fine. reading all the positive comments and seeing the crowd funding i decided to register to pass on my support and donate a small amount to help out. best of luck

Thank you, much appreciated.

For anyone that subscribed to this thread, I've bought a new Boxster and started a new build thread here...

I suspect the above post was intended as a reply to the Mark 2 version of this thread ;-)

The question was originally asked in here, but seems to have disappeared.

Just caught up on this after a while out and all I can say is I'm devastated for you! Big respect for carrying on with the project given everything that has happened and relieved to hear you and your daughter were ok. Re the insurance we've all done silly things so no need to go there.

Regarding the Fire service and their attendance time, is the local station on-call? They can take a while if so and if they were off the run due to availability then the next nearest station would have to be mobilised. Or they may have already been out on a call and actually had further to come than from the station. Unfortunately successive governments have decimated our public services, and it's people like you who suffer in this instance.

Anyway enough of that. Good luck with the next chapter of this project. You deserve it.

Thank you. I don't think they were on call, the fire chief would have probably mentioned that when I went to talk to him about it a week or so later. I was kind of in shock as it was happening so asked the guy on the bike to call the fire brigade while I was trying to get the fire extinguishers out and use them. I was on one road under a roundabout and they went around the roundabout and took an exit, 5 minutes later they did the same thing and took another exit and the guy on the bike called them back to give better directions. The fire chief told me they didn't know where I was. I'm thinking maybe they just didn't understand what they had been told as a Police officer found me in half the time.
