yikes So it doubles in power over 1k rpm up to just shy of 600bhp / ft/lbs. It's going to feel like being hit across the shoulders with God's own cricket bat.

Just need to rip out the tractor engine and stick in a 3.6 petrol (or even an M120 V12...) in its place...

That is a monumentally savage power band!

I wonder how it handles - my old W124 E320 struggles with considerably less than half that power! Any suspension/steering mods?

I love this.

Has this been work you have done yourself?

Or have you frequented the chap that runs 'dieselpumpuk' who does many conversions on the om606 engines with similar results!

Bloody awesome as a sleeper. I want to do the same kind of thing but put the engine in a Carlton Estate (don't ask...)

Jesus, can it actually get the power down or do you lay black lines everywhere ?

So its the original engine, converted to manual, with a big turbo on it, is there loads more to doing this ?

No, actually, just a normal estate. I have a soft spot for them.

The original engine had 90bhp! The original was a 2.5litre, 5cylinder, 10valve, NA diesel. This has the 3.0litre, 6cylinder, 24valve, turbo diesel out of a w210 E-Class with a big turbo, a big mechanical fuel pump and a manual box strapped onto it. As you know, Merc diesels from this era are almost indestructible. Their quality is something else: they were made to do millions of miles on relatively minimal maintenance. This OM606 engine is really popular for "superturbodiesel" transplants into all sorts of cars.

Is the engine super short stroke or something? I've just been on YouTube and these big turbo old mercs seem common on the continent. They all Rev like buggery too!!! Is it serious cash to do this? It must sound like one of those diesel tractor pullers, black smoke, black smoke, lag, lag, the colour of smoke changes and scream!!!! Love it!
