Ultimate Street Sleeper - Mercedes W124 'Superturbodiesel'

Had the car on a dyno!
On this safe setup of low revs, and low boost / fuel it still made 362bhp / 378ft lb! 305whp.
I think she will stay at this power until i sort the brakes / suspension.

I guess as well considering you paid for new engine the costs must be adding up and having another broken engine would be a big risk.
Definitely a marmite car.
As we found out the engine wont cope at max power for eternity. But there is still scope for forging to produce some stupid numbers.Definitely a marmite car.
But as i said, for now 362 is 'nice'
The nice thing is engines are cheap. Cheaper than fixing them anyway 😂

Have you got any performance figures for it ?
How would it compare to say a C63 or similar over a 1/4 mile ? is it a case of quick once its rolling, I imagine getting it off the line could be challenging
I havent yet.How would it compare to say a C63 or similar over a 1/4 mile ? is it a case of quick once its rolling, I imagine getting it off the line could be challenging
Needs a few more tweeks before i up the power and get some figures sorted
Nothings been really happening. Ive been driving the car regularly.
Yes, it is advertised for sale, priorities and all that. But id rather keep it in all honesty. Id deffo have one again so it seems a bit daft to get rid now - it was my childhood dream!
The car has started to feel a bit wandery up the front end, hardly suprised considering all the suspension is standard.
So its coming off the road over winter for a few tweeks to be made, dependant on how funds allow. Its going to be a long project...

When you stripped the failed engine did you notice evidence of bore score on all cylinders? I imagine bore wash would be a major concern on this car.
Also, given the amount of fuel you're chucking into the cylinders, do you get oil dilution? Imagine the smoke you'd see when this thing runs away!
I didnt take the failed engine apart. Looked down the intake and could see the piston in the valves! Also, given the amount of fuel you're chucking into the cylinders, do you get oil dilution? Imagine the smoke you'd see when this thing runs away!
Never heard of bore wash being an issue on these, or had an issue with dilution.
These dieselmeken pumps have never had a runaway, but with the lift pump id just turn the car off, soon run out of diesel lol

For the love of all that's holy, please put OEM bumpers on, those look like cheap aftermarket things like you'd find advertised in the back of Max Power mag...
The rear is standard, the front is an AMG.And i will put on my car, what i like, thanks.
Full amg kit will be going in the future.

Fair enough, think it needs the rest of the kit to balance it out, the front one perhaps looks a bit out of place with the rest of the car being standard, think the rest of the AMG kit will balance it out and make it look more factory/OEM.
I dont like the rear or side at the moment. Needs the rest of the kit to finish it off. And then hide that ugly exhaust with a pointy down tip.Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
