I'll buy it if she decides to get rid
TP, would you buy it because you have a hankering for high mileage Pandas or is meeting a 'slightly mad horsey lady' the deal breaker here? laugh
Having met TP in the flesh, definitely the latter. rofl

Progress today - engine is on its stand and I've started cleaning it up.

Glad I am already putting a sump on it - the drain plug is seized solid which is I assume the reason why it wasn't drained of oil (ask me how I know....)

Metal water pipe that runs to the water pump is corroded and has a pinhole in it - must source a brand new replacement because the old engine has a very similar problem

So, just to clarify... You've bought an engine that's probably been run low on coolant and with filthy long-ignored oil...?

Yeah, good at this aren't I

Still, it was cheap, low mileage and I saw it running including at temperature

Started laying down some primer on the engine

Sump will be painted before fitting when it arrives and the rocker cover when I remove it to change its gasket

Why is it I see these threads and instantly think, yeah that would suit the commute and go off looking them?
