Sump I bought ages ago is the wrong one so currently waiting on another being delivered from ECP this afternoon. In the mean time I've split the gearbox and other ancillaries from the old engine and installed the rocker cover and new gasket on the replacement!

Once the sump is on I'll be fitting the clutch and timing belt then it's pretty close to being ready to go in!

ECP delivered the wrong sump despite being very specifically told what was right and wrong on the phone.

Hopefully back in the game tomorrow morning

Rightly or wrongly you have inspired me.... In May I get a wage rise and John Pye have a Sheffield auction every couple of months. In the immortal words of two of the nicest people I have met: Oh dear oh dear.

It's proving to be a pain in the arse right to the bitter end - wrong parts, missing parts (who knew a 2004 and 2006 1.1 engine would have a completely different coil pack?).

Just about to put the gearbox on the engine and then it's ready to go in but the timeline is slipping for sure! I'm knackered so have sacked it off for today

And check the spark leads while you're at it.

Had a cinq with a 1.1, was running like st when i bought it (suspected HG failure). Now the HG certainly didnt look very good, but after putting everything back together i found that one of the spark leads was gone as well, making it run like st... (HG job might have been unneeded entirely)

Compression good on the new engine? Can you stick a code reader on it to find out if the ECU thinks it's borked?

Done all that - it's fked, and it's going to a new home shortly.

Hopefully it'll live on in some form rather than be instantly turned into bean tins.

Blocked exhaust?

Trying to think of something that you have not changed that might be the cause.

Are all pressures about level?

It really pains me to read this thread.

You really should have cut your losses and driven it into a reservoir.

The car is going - hopefully to somewhere it'll at least do some good rather than just straight to the scrappers
