Fantastic, and all the better going to a chap with such a, er, historic collection. Hopefully the additions will continue, and will continue to originate cars posted "at" you here on Pistonheads.
How does this compare to the SD1 in a virtual and mismatched twin test?
PH'er and part time dead French President Charles de Gaulle put me onto the Daimo. It is quite a different ride from the SD1. The Daimler is quieter, more gutsy in a straight line, and feels quite old skule. The SD1 is noisier, nimbler, and feels like a car that was striving to be modern and advanced when new. Both are lovely places to sit, and both feel quite Chairman of the Board, although the Daimler Chairman is with a well established FTSE company while the SD1 Chairman is a younger guy at a younger company, maybe one that's getting into 80s tech. How does this compare to the SD1 in a virtual and mismatched twin test?
top wafting BV,
i only had one tank working on my Coupe, could be crossover switch or, as i found out after looooong storage, the tanks were rotting from the inside out. Drained both out and removed both pumps and "in tank" filters. (accessed through the wheel arches). Linked both tanks with a "T" piece and moved filters into the wheelarches so i can keep an eye on them. New single fuel tank bolted to the front inner wing with an additional in line filter. Senders, one for each tank situated behind the rear lights, dont work, so no gauge. On brimming both tanks then refilling after a run they do both take equal amounts, just need to wire up a new sender to one side or t'other. i seem to be getting about 18mpg with some spirited wafting. enjoy, and keep us updated,

Splendid opener BV, I feel this thread may indeed have legs. In fact reading this and the posts in your BL thread is making me feel slightly guilty for not giving my XJ some much deserved lurve of late. It's also making me wish I'd held out a little longer and bought a better S1 rather than the (admittedly very tasty) S2 I plumped for. That bluff front end and much nicer looking dash have the edge over the S2 I think. Your all black interior is what I'd prefer too, the biscuit trim in mine is more Rotary Club than bank job.
An easy tip I happened upon the day after I bought my shed - take the oil breather thingy off and give the gauze filter a good old clean up, mine was full of gunk (luckily no mayo present though).
What's the overall build quality like? Was it nailed together on a non strike day..? Most of the piant on mine is factory and the doors all shut with a lovely deep 'clunk' (better than my P5B surprisingly) but some of the interior looks like it was thrown at the car on a Friday afternoon.

The car is the one in the link below. It was first put up for sale last autumn, for a bit shy of 4K. The seller has too many Jag projects on the go at once, so chose to sell this one. He reduced the price by over 1K, and I haggled him down from there.

Fair play to you for hanging on to your collection !
I miss my old girl so much it genuinely hurts....I'll buy her back, one day.....
My word, that's a classy motor. Same to the OP in fact, top work Mr 72. I miss my old girl so much it genuinely hurts....I'll buy her back, one day.....
The list of cars you currently have is impressive Breadvan, only two of them are younger than me and one of them only by a year
^^^^^^ Quality!
Heres mine:
2.8 auto Though its turbine smooth and a right revver! 3 previous owners, (Who were all aquaintancies) Deluxe spec with leather and leccy windows and 57K on it and very little rust (Stored for 22 yrs, Ive only washed the dirt and dust off, Havent even polished it) May 73 so one of the last 2.8's. And i didnt put the leaper on it.
