I suggest that you try to keep the two tanks roughly in balance, to maintain your perfectly poised weight distribution, and don't let either run dry, as there may be clag and crud at the bottom of each one. You can switch while moving.

No hijack! All Jaaaaaaag discussions gratefully received. Twin tanks are cool! I had them on the Lotus Europa Special from which I derive my PH name. The carbs drew fuel from both tanks together, but the system involved a 10p platsic T-piece that failed one day, throwing all the petrol all over a car park.

My 4.2 is from May 1973, IIRC.

Some of the Toffs are still there, but bear in mind that "old money" simply means that your family stopped being crims and spivs and hustlers a few generations before the new money did. Show me an aristocrat and I will show you the descendant of a successful gangster or shyster. Noblesse de l'epee, noblesse de la robe - take your pick, they all started as crooks.

It was speculated earlier in the thread that the chap would surely have had a valet to wind up the windows for him.

Yeah I think my gauges are currently lying to me so I don't really want to play chicken with them on the m40!! ...
Kindly note that I have reserved all of the hard shoulder on both sides of the M40 between junctions 1 and 6 for the exclusive use of my collection of old knackers. Sub letting may be available at extortionate rates.

Incipient failure of some component in the ignition system? A dodgy connection somewhere?

You hit the starter casing using a long screwdriver or crowbar and a hammer. It goes click, and then it works.

XJ-S before facelift, XJS afterwards.

I will keep mine for a while yet, but might sell it to a PH'er in a year or two.

My one has been asleep in an underground lockup for the last two weeks but on Monday goes to the wonderful Two Johns in Highbury, N5, to have a manual choke fitted.

It looks fab. I expect that the bids will go a bit higher than 2750.

The six makes a lot more sense. Half the stuff to go wrong, and fuel economy that is merely bonkers instead of batst nuts.

Grrrr. I got up early and went to the London car storage place where the Daimler is. It had been blocked in by the resident mechanic's broken down pimpy Range Rover, and he was nowhere to be seen. I do not use his services, as he is not very good with old cars. The storage place's owner was very apologetic, and says that he will give the dude a bking, but I had to cancel my garage booking and put it back a week. I am not chuffed.
