Yes, puppies died every time you did it.
I had better not reveal the true depth of the quantity of spares for xj's that were abandoned!
The time and cost involved in moving them was far greater than the value of them at the time .
Oh to have a large shedfull of those bits now .

They will look fine with a bit of WD40 and a half an hour with a soft cloth, might seem odd putting them on a S1 but I reckon they'll look dandy on a white car with a black Webasto.

Had a dig at my workmate yesterday who owns a 1980 S3 Daimler Sov, he bought a refurbished set of Kents (a full set of five) for it recently but I pointed out to him that as he's had the car for seven years and hasn't driven it yet they'd look much better on my S2... I'll be seeing him again twice next week, I need to find his weak spot!
Go for it P5BNij, Kents are neat and surprisingly light, The Columba alloys i took off my 850 T5 are heavier...But then it is a Volvo..biggrin

Pro: Easier for driving

Cons: Car without mirrors is as original. Spenner.

I would, BV. I think that fitting them would make the car even more desirable.

Seven years & not yet driven it? eek That's a weak spot for starters, P5B! Why not offer to take him for spin in the S2 to show him just what a machine he's missing out on, unfortunately some scoundrel's pinched your wheels & you need a new set....
He's got eleven classics of various nationalities scattered around Northamptonshire, only one of which is currently a runner! I've known him for ten years and am always nagging him to sell the non runners and bag a decent quality Jag or Rover P5B. I've offered him a razz in the S2, he hasn't taken me up on it yet...!

The more I look at Kents the more I want a set Klunk, and they don't look out of place on early S2s... I took this at Ragley Hall about five years ago...

A cracking 'me time' diversion, my copy practically lives in my work bag and is rather well thumbed now. The overiding impression of all the road testers is just how good the XJ design was as a complete package, especially for the asking price, it still holds true today.

This is also worth a punt...

(Found the culprit with regard to my XJ's starting problem, turns out the coil is fine but the electronic ignition fitted last Summer is playing up!)

Late S2 V12 here, perhaps a bit pricey for a non runner but looks like it has a lot of potential...

To me, the Jaguar V12 engine installation always looks like an oil refinery. It's the sort of thing that would get blown up by The Hood in an episode of Thunderbirds.

I love all these dark colours, BTW. I suppose, however, that when I get my Daimler sprayed I should keep it original and white, and if I come to sell it that may give it potential as a wedding car.

Drop a screwdriver in there and you'll never see it again.

Nowadays we have the cult of the cover. Engines are concealed from the user, and to access them requires labour in removing the covers. When did that start? Some time in the mid 1990s, I guess.

Here is the engine of my 1992 half-facelift XJS. For comparison, see what had happened by 1994: still visibly an engine but transitioning to modernity.

Does it still have room in there for really sharp bits that you hadn't realised were there, until you have finished and discovered that your arms were lacerated?smile
