Does it still have room in there for really sharp bits that you hadn't realised were there, until you have finished and discovered that your arms were lacerated?smile
In my experience they fit all the sharp edges behind the dashboard in most cars.

I tend to find both. When I changed the heater matrix in the Cosworth, my arms were so bad that I had to get a friend to come and help refit everything because it hurt to much to do it myself. I still find it slightly embarrassing having to explain that I am not a self harmer, I just like maintaining my own cars. Seems to be less of an issue if you can stay oil stained.

These days people might think it worse that you maintain your own car.

Looks like it was designed by an evil genius.
The sight of the V12 scares the wotsits out of me, how the hell do you get to anything underneath / down the side of it...? Can't even see where the coil and the dizzy are!

Are you seriously contemplating a colour change on the Daimler BV? It's a big 'glass / everything else out' job if you are... it was bad enough when I did my Mini.

P5B, If you're ever tempted to take your spanners to a V12 the dizzy sits in the middle of the V...

How hard can it be to work on one and what could possibly go wrong? hehe

hehe I doubt that! Just that the dizzy's more visible in the pic I posted than it is in Craig's pic.

Don't give up on the classifieds yet, chap!

Back in the day, the old man had an XJ-S V12. It was maintained by the fitters at his construction company to the Jaguar service specs. It used to take the highly experienced senior fitter two full days to service it (with all the right Jag tools/manuals etc).

He always said that he couldn't believe the Jaguar "target time" for a full service, even allowing for thee fact they did them day-in, day-out, and was convinced that no V12 Jaguar could ever have been properly serviced at a main dealer.

I can well believe this is true, Clapham & possibly has a bearing on how shonky the V12 could become very quickly.

I was fortunate enough to own a V12 XJS back in the 80's, it took around 24 hours of labour for 2 RAF airframe technicians to clean out the throttle bodies...

Ahhhhh, the ole wedding car route. I remember going to a wedding show where someone had a white XJ40, available for £800 (wedding tax). My comment about whether we were buying it at that price didnt go down well...

The car is already white. It just needs tarting up.

Does anyone happen to know if an XJ6 series 1 bonnet is the same as a Daimler Sov bonnet? differences to the bonnet around the grill?*

  • Might have bought a Sov with a manky bonnet.

A comprehensive list of parts here:

https://www.angloparts.com/pdf_catalogues/Jaguar_X...

There appears to be only one bonnet panel listed for the whole Series One range, there are also the separate Jaguar & Daimler grilles / badges so it appears the panels are interchangeable.

Hope this helps.

Bonnets are the same and grilles fit the same just have a slightly different look. Everything between the Daimler and Jaguar versions is interchangeable
