Apart from new footwell carpets, I will leave the interior pretty much alone until the rust and paintwork are attended too. The interior is a bit darker than I would prefer, but the car should be fun with the roof open.

I'm doing interior and exterior at same time. Thankfully I have virtually no rust on mine so it's a basement all respray to change the colour and new trim

One of my teachers in high school had a 70's jag (I can't remember the model) - he bought it with a knackered engine and had a Holden (Chev) v8 fitted for quite a lot less than it would have cost to fix the original engine.

We students all thought it was cool at the time*, but where does it fit on the sister/ladyboy scale?

  • He was in the western desert in ww2, taught me Indonesian and history, smoked a pipe, played the organ (stop sniggering at the back), told terrible puns - all round great bloke, and a huge influence on me at the time.

Fitting a Chevy engine is the equivalent of marrying your sister to a lot of Jaguar purists

hehe I have to concur with this. However, I see from AW111's profile he's in Australia (It was the mention of Holden & teaching Indonesian that intrigued me) & his teacher does sound like an all round good guy.
I'd be happy to settle for 'Total Fruitcake' on this one... nuts

Australian Outback divorce court, weeping ex wife on steps. Ex husband: "Don't worry, Sheila, you'll always be my sister".

Close, but substitute Tasmania for outback.

The car is parked. With the door open. On Tyneside.
Of course it needs a big fk off guard dog....

Hi Bredders ,when it comes time to install the tank back in the car it might be an idea to give the electric aerial the once over . The motor part should be mounted next to the fuel pumps on the rear panel next to the spare wheel well . Pop the cover off and check the lube hasn't all dried to a solid lump .

As I said on another thread recently, the more I look at these the more I want one.

In my current fleet there are (as well as several bikes):

L322 FFRR, daily driver
Defender 90 V8, weekend driver and a definite keeper
Sportingly-aspirational Fiat nonsense which has had a LOT of money spent on it and is, essentially, another keeper
3.9 Vogue RR Classic. Now here's the thing. I'll try and keep this brief. I bought this on a bit of a whim, knowing it had problems starting. Again, I'd always wanted one, and on the few occasions I've driven it, it'a nice place to be. However, the MOT ran out, I couldn't resolve the starting issues, and lost interest, although I'd almost certainly use it regularly if it ran nicely. I have bills for over £10k spent on it in recent years, but it needs the running sorted, and if I'm honest, it's frillier than I thought it was when I bought it; not terminal, but needs a few bits of tin glued on here and there. I've recently contemplated handing it, and my wallet, to a man who can, but haven't got around to that yet.

And then there's MrsC's car.

The modest vehicular accommodation at Casa Cappo hosts all of the above, but no more. MrsC is ever-amenable to my automotive itches, but suggests that if I really want an XJ, the RRC ought to make room for it. That's a tough one; if the RRC goes, I very much doubt I shall have another, realistically or fiscally, and whilst it is currently something of a boat anchor on the drive, I don't quite feel that I have enjoyed it enough yet. But I WOULD like an XJ. I think.

What would the good burghers of PH do in such an instance?

Get rid of a car I love, but that doesn't work, for a car that I love, that does.

This one looks in fair nick from the pictures, at a good price, even if the interior is a little tired, but the listing certainly isn't giving much away!
