So today was Brooklands!! Absolute splendid day out and was surprised by all the positive comments about the 90, plus being the only 90 there was also great! smile

Just one photo of the 90 for now, more will follow though.

So a small kinda update today.

I've been doing some wheeler dealing and I've managed to bag myself a set of new alloys, now the problem is that I've essentially got the choice of two very different sets.

The 1st set are 5 spoke alloys, I don't know what they are but I feel that these would look very good.

The 2nd set are a long time favourite of mine, they are Compomotive TH Mono's in 16", which after seeing them on another 90 over on the continent has made me feel that the 90 looks good on them. Yes they are black but I'd probably have them painted in silver smile

And the last thing which I've managed to bag is an OMP steering wheel, I know it's going a bit away from keeping the interior standard but after owning a smaller steering wheel on my 75, 155 and 145 makes me think it's an upgrade worth doing.

If it werent for the fact that the 90 is grey, id paint the compo's white and put those on, but a grey 90 is just a bit too civilized to go full track-toy look with imho

choices choices..

A nice subtle smoked chrome would look great on that car. The 5 spokes I think suit it better

So today I did my usual weekly fluid and pressure checks, I'm still quite amazed in that the 2.5 12v uses next to no oil! So I moved onto the engine coolant and noticed that it was a bit too low, so I topped it up and noticed a small weep from a coolant pipe...fortunately all it needed was for the jubilee clip to be tightened.

I then preceded to give her another clean as always, this time I used a wax called Soft99 Fusso wax which is a Japanese wax that's taken the UK by storm recently.

So please find below the latest photos, as well as including photos of the engine for once.

None of my Bussos use any oil at all. I checked the 155 V6 for the first time in 3 months because I thought I ought to - and the level is exactly where I left it when it was serviced back in June last year, 4000 miles ago. Not bad for a 23 year old car. I haven't topped up the 24v V6 in the 156 since we've owned it - annual service, that's it.

All I can say about that steering wheel is that at least you can put the car back to original state by just unbolting it! :-)

Your pics of a properly installed 12v have reminded me that I have to do the belt on the 155 this year, and it will be a lot harder than yours, there is no access at all. I can do a 24v in my sleep, never done a 12v before.

It's strange though, because when I owned my GTA I found that she used quite a bit of oil, but I'm putting that down to how she was driven as I did give her a good thrashing literally every single day wink

Where as with the 12v I driver much more sedately, using the surprising torque to make progress.

And on the steering wheel, I'm eyeing up a Momo Prototipo steering wheel now simply because it's got more of a classic look.

I'm sure the little Alfa garage in my village will have had one of these in its time but this isn't a model I can ever recall seeing on the road

But this is a fab thread OP, love it. And that dashboard is amazing.

Looking great as always Busso, looks to be ready for the show season. You won't get many people saying 'I used to have one of those'!

While I am a stickler for originality, for some reason the Compomotives, perhaps resprayed silver/gunmetal would look fantastic.

Well I had my 1st breakdown last night, I pulled up with the car overheating, steam was everywhere! So I switched off the engine asap and let the car cool down etc, checked for split pipes and there are all good.

So thanks to a lovely old women who provided me with enough water to fill the coolant back up, I was on my way home again. So the car wouldn't overheat I took the longer way home, so I was at a constant speed so convectional cooling can do it's job.

So today I've been investigating and found that after I started the car, one hose was getting really hot whereas the other hose was stone cold, plus the radiator was cold and the fan weren't switching on. So I'm going to order a new thermostat, fan switch and also a new radiator while I'm at it, fortunately the parts are cheap enough smile

Worth checking the water pump impeller is still attached to its shaft when you have it all apart, perhaps?

Good call but it's extremely rare for that to fail on a 12v, plus the heating works and all the pipes leading to and from the water pump are hot enough. While everything is apart though I might as well whip it off for a closer look though smile

Can you take out the thermostat and boil it up in the kitchen to ensure it is opening correctly?

I know it's a bit of a chunky unit but I always check that first.

Funny enough, that's what I ended up doing...and it don't open, so I'm more a less certain it's that. smile

So a long over due update me thinks.

The 90 had its MOT at the beginning of November and I was quite surprised that she passed without any advisories or anything!

I thunk the plan now is to have the outside tided up, a good respray will sort her out. I've got all the replacement panels that I need, so the panel rust is actually okay smile

I continue to use the 90 daily as well, seems to run much better after being used etc.
