It is in the metal. I find the same with Morello Cherry or whatever the 70s colour is called. Amaranth is nice as an OEM colour

If you like the idea of a dark purple (and I think that would suit your build very well) I'd go with this one:

http://www.houseofkolor.com/kolors/detail/index.ht...

Thats the one that I kept looking at
My money would go on this.

I know it's photoshopped but it does look good. A good 70's colour smile

I used Range Rover 'Barossa' metallic purple on my Cooper S, looks almost black until the light hits it, then you can see the deep fruitiness, difficult to show it accurately as it never seems to look exactly the same twice in photos, anyway here goes...

I would go for that instead of the black IF I could find a dark purple carpeting to go with a cream leather (and black upper) interior and a purple cotton for the stitching. Both have evaded me so far

Do you really want purple?

Or special black ... with a hint.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2015...

How about your original obsidian black, but with purple pinstripes ?
(I know the Bentley has red, but it gives a whiff of the idea)

And perhaps purple piping on the leather.

ETA Otherwise I fear this ( a result of furious googling)...

Which is *not* beautiful. despite what the DM says smile

Indeed. I was thinking black / purple, rather than full purple.

Love this project, been watching it for ages.
OP,regarding the colour,I've always with these coupes that the really dark colours don't do its shape justice, a lot of the curves get lost. A strong colour, but a tad lighter may just work?

I agree to a point sjc which is why I originally settled on obsidian black because of its features.
Feel free to make some suggestions

This is actually a BMW moterbike colour paint code: 284
probably a bit light for your needs but I think it would really suit the 'lines' of the XJC.

Wild Berry?

Was a late 90`s Bentley colour that worked very well on the `Coke bottle shape` Continental & may still be in the range.

This is my favourite readers car thread.
I've always loved these ever since I had the Corgi version as a kid. Such graceful lines. I love the thought going into the mods. Can't wait to see it in paint.
