It's Mercedes Obsidian Black Metallic chosen for the fact the metallic element is pure silver and not colour flecked liked the Jaguar metallic blacks. Basically it just makes it look super shiny rather than metallic

That was exactly the reason it was chosen. I didn't want the coloured flecks of red and gold etc in Jaguar midnight as it would look too modern.

Looking fantastic OP. Do you have any ballpark figures for the soft closing doors?

I see absolutely no reason to add soft closing doors. Unnecessary weight, complexity and something to go wrong.

Why do I suspect there are MUCH better uses for that money... Even if it's just fuel.

Spoken like a true classic car man hehe The doors do weigh a fair amount. Not saying im going to do it. Was just something I come across and of course if my quest is to modernise the car as much as possible then it is something that is standard on current XJ's

True, but then you'd have to add keyless entry too biggrin

Some of those are on the list too.... well the heated seats, auto dim rear mirror and there is a reverse camera not sensors with the nav kit.

Once all the chrome is back on I need to dig out the list.

More importantly are you bringing the chassis up to contemporary spec or just adding toys?

Meaning?

The car already has uprated suspension, bushes, steering rack, brakes etc and will be gaining a more modern auto box. What were you thinking?
