There's a nice story on Petrolicious today about a XJ6-C, may be of interest to some here: http://petrolicious.com/this-1975-jaguar-xj-c-is-o...
That's a great link, looks like an interesting website all round. Bookmarked, many thanks.Craig, I came across this whilst looking for something entirely different (innit always the way?)

The whole video's a bit so-so, but what did draw my attention was the bit around the 7 minute mark...
Given that you're binning your vinyl roof, would it be prudent to have some sort of sound deadening pads fitted?
Just a thought mate, please don't think I'm trying to teach granny to suck eggs!

Cheers buddy always good to be reminded of the details. Car is going to be completely swathed in dynomat because currently there is no sound deadening under the roof lining Just been out to mine and it doesnt sound that tinny!! That gearbox in my car would make it mad fast but I want to keep an auto. Shame cant fit any six speeders :-(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TMgIkx40tI

Fab looking Coupe!

Thought it might. If yours is finished with this look, it'll be subtly super cool...and the yellow headlamps are a must against the black coachwork. Even the bullet door mirrors look 'right'.
Car currently has bullet mirrors and will be getting a new set. Cant do yellow lamps in the UKEdited by v8250 on Saturday 19th March 19:48

Ah that's good mate, it should be as quiet as a quiet thing in a quiet place! (apart from a nice induction roar - I assume you get that on a 6.0 litre ?) bomma220 said:

The issue i am going to have is not inadvertently amplifying the wind noise from the windows by deadening everything else. Im kind of hoping we can improve the window seal when we renovate.

I like that black one but I don't like the yellow lights, which to me, only suit pre-90s French cars
Even then, the French never used yellow lenses - some importers did, most notably BMW - but most were yellow bulbs. Yellow lenses scream AA-bottle-of-lacquer-1970s-tourist-MkIVCortina-nothing-to-declare.Craig, re the windscreen wiper issue you mentioned on Breadvan's Daimler thread, I have spoken to an 'old school' Jaguar guy, he gave me these pointers:
The cylindrical wiper motor housing has a drain hole in it, but the way Jaguar fitted them the hole's not at the bottom!
Worth removing the housing & cleaning everything up, if it has got wet inside it can cause the motor brushes to stick.
Check the voltage going to the motor, if it's low check & clean the contacts on the 35 amp fuse.
Check the motor earth connections.
Remove the wiper arms & spray a little WD40 PTFE on the spindles with the motor running.
The S3 wiper motor looks the same as a S2 but has different gearing...
Hope this helps mate, is the Beast behaving ok?

Cheers, will try some of that. Its a complete new series 3 motor thats in there after the recon unit was talking 20 seconds to do one wipe of the screen! Im going to liberally cover the screen in rain-x for now. I think i need to buy a more powerful screenwash motor too. Easily done I guess. Its a shame because something silly like that really dates the car.The cylindrical wiper motor housing has a drain hole in it, but the way Jaguar fitted them the hole's not at the bottom!

Its being used as a daily at the moment to stack the miles on prior to doing any major work to flush out as many of the problems as possible which in reality means two long 150 mile motorway trips a week and a couple of short runs.
