Not sure how the XJS seats sit in comparison to the standard ones and I guess it will be hard to find out without trying it, but maybe the restoration place you have the car at how has a spare XJS seat they could try and you could see how it works out..
That's what I was thinking, Just stick one in and give it a go.

Love these old Jags. Will be following this with interest. Cars only round the corner from my work as well so may even get to see it in the metal. Don't know why but there are loads of Jag restorers in Eastbourne.

Think that is the best option, if it works it will be a perfect solution. If not we will all have to get our thinking caps on for you. Keep us posted.

Still loving the project and your dedication. thumbup

Yay or Nay? all opinions and suggestions welcome as always
I've been thinking about this since you posed the seat-size question on my Readers Ride thread. As you say, the thing to do is try it and see, but for me it's probably a no.

To be honest, electronic adjustment is a bit of a gimmick, especially if it's only you that drives the car. Once you've got it right, you'll never touch it. The heating can be nice but, again, a really small benefit not worth the trade-off in looks. Finally, the XJS seats are thinner and squarer than yours, and look less sumptuous. I think that cross-stitching could look a bit much on a less rounded seat.

If it were me, I'd re-use the originals I think.

Whatever you decide, good luck, and keep the pictures coming.

What I'm most concerned about is being able to make them look like they "match" the rear

CDG..... I don't disagree with you which is why it's only a thought. I've had heated, cooled, electric seats on other cars and to be honest you don't move them much and I used the cooling more than the heat.

Thanks for doing the measuring for my BTW much appreciated.

No problem chum, happy to help and play a miniscule part in your fantastic project!

I hadn't thought of the mis-match between front and rear. That would make it even more of a no from me.

have you considered the seats from the x308? They are super-comfy, could take your quilted treatment and size-wise ought to be ok in a coupe imho

No good because they don't fold to allow access to the back

you could always dispense with the back seats in favout of a massive touring fuel tank (you will need it) hehe

Haha no thanks! hehe

The later XJ seats are also a lot taller than the originals and you soon realise how low the roof is

Indeed - I haven't ever spent more that on buying a car, let alone a couple of seats!

A long unexpected marathon of bodywork repairs comes to an end at the end of August but at least what I now have is an entirely rust free shell which can be rust proofed as part of the painting process. I am now wondering if there is enough of the original car left for it to not be considered a Q plate hehe

At least now the fun part begins and there should be no costly surprises from here on in.

I took the grille and lower valance to Zunsport in Cannock last week and they are building me a mesh grille using a rechromed original outer to mimic the modern XF/XJ grille with a red growler badge set in the top 3rd and a meshed lower valance to match all in shiny chrome and a lifetime guarantee for an excellent price

Have ordered a set of Xenon headlamps with the outers having built in indicators in an angel eye style and side light. This means can get rid of the the units below the bumper for a more modern look

Front and rear bumpers will be made into one piece units before they are rechromed to get rid of the over riders for a much cleaner look. New set of bullet racing mirrors on the way too and then all that will be left externally will be the wheels but they can wait until the end.

Some of the interior tech is also now on order with an auto dipping mirror with garage door opener and sensors for auto headlights and wipers joining the xenon headlamps mentioned about. Bag of sand for all of that, to me, is a good deal.

Designing a set of gauges with white faces now with a US supplier with the speedo running off the sat nav GPS sensor to make things easy. Set of 6 gauges and a matching clock £800

A decision to make on gauges..... I am not sure which font style to use or whether to have a growler in the speedo and tach or have the word Jaguar in the speedo and XJ coupe in the tach. Opinions? below you see both font styles and an example of a growler and text....
