Wondered how yours was coming on earlier today.

The gauges etc not my thing, but I love the 6.0ltr business!

Bottom font.
I'd prefer nearer a smiths look in black with silver or white fontwork

The top one definitely for me, with the leaper. I'm afraid the other font to me looks like it belongs in a barried-up Corsa!

Haha, I must say I am preferring the look of the porsche font with the growler but public opinion of those I have asked so far seem to favour leaper with traditional font. We will see.

Barried-up Corsa, Porsche, whatever - It has no place on a Jaguar IMHO! biggrin

Coming along nicely.

My only word of caution is going a bit wild with modern stuff, you could lose the "soul" of the car. On that note I would stick with classic Smith look gauges and forget the growler or Jagaur, much more classy in my view.

Is running the speedo off the GPS not a bit unreliable?

As an example you lose GPS when driving through the Blackwall Tunnel which is strictly 20mph and has cameras. I wouldn't want to drive through it with no idea of my speed...

There are 10000s of options you can make them look as original as you like. Here is one they made for a Triumph which looks very period.

i

The reason I want to go a bit more modern is because the dash will be piano black and have modern chrome switches rather than the crappy 70s black chunks and it will have a double din Nav unit and round chrome air con vents so I'm thinking black gauges will look a bit lost.

There is that but I don't want the hassle of recalibration if I change the diff or anything else that might impact on it. car will also have a cruise control / speed limiter and in those few situations where I think it will be a pain I can use that

how would speedo work inside an mot station? that's a fail surely?

also, when you mentioned a growler on your instruments i admit i thought of something else!

Anyway, no growler. top font and leaper.

Why? GPS on your phone works indoors doesn't it? I've never had a problem with car sat nav finding a fix when it's in the garage

I had to go to a company called Growler Parts for something yesterday that was quite interesting typing that into Google hehe

well, firstly i'm sure some mot places won't have a signal deep inside.
more importantly you're not moving on a rolling road!

i'm no mot expert, just trying to help. experts will be along soon...
but your extract states reason for failure "speedo clearly not working" which tester may notice while on rolling road doing brake tests?
