That has long gone. The picture being photoshopped is very old. You need to look back a few pages hehe

I decided to go for a pair of XK style vent slits that dont require any mesh

Once that is done in the next few days the bodywork phase will be done and we will be ready to prep and paint.

Toying with the idea before we do of fitting a set of bonnet louvres but not sure.....

Need to make my mind up PDQ on that.

In other news the headlights have been confirmed as passable for an MOT so they will be on order in the next few days. 2x 4800k HID 7 inch units with built in sidelights and indicators in the style of a BMW Angel Eye and 2x 4800k HID 5 3/4 units that will operate on high beam only as with the current setup.

Grille remake is currently underway with Zunsport in Cannock, cant wait to see what that looks like

I have decided that the gauges will be cream rather than white with leaper icons (yes i know they are different sizes and positions in my rubbish mock up) in the tach and speedo so with my poor photo manipulation skills they will look something like this -

They will be in the right order and the top two outers will be inverted as they are in the car as standard. The warning light chunk in the centre of the standard car will be removed and replaced with a small T shaped setup which will be virtually hidden against the black piano wood and means the clocks can be closer together to account for the smaller diameter black wood wheel.

Bit of shopping to do this week then

Within the next few days I should have a mock up of what they will look like. Looks like with the pound diving though they are going to work out at about £900 for the set of 4

I'm pleased you went with cream; very much a better choice for dials than white I think.

If it were mine, I would not go for bonnet vents but, as always, he who pays ...

Yeah the white was just too stark really against black. The font on these is much better too. Spent hours on the configurator to get them right

Not sure about the bonnet vents but I want it to look as much like an XJR coupe may have looked if they had made one although I think the modern style mesh grilles and coloured wheels may give me enough of that.

Those dials get my vote. This project is getting better all the time.

I am amazed at the level of interest an old Jag having a fortune spent on it has gathered on here hehe

Thank you for the kind words and willingness to give opinions / come up with ideas guys. Finally the more fun parts of the build are starting. It's been testing getting to this point (especially on the wallet!)

OK I could do with some more photoshop help. Using the black car pictured below can someone manipulate the rear lights so that they are entirely red using the colour from the top half of the lens. Just toying with an idea

Cheers Vandenberg. What do we all think to solid colour rear lights?

The tri-colour lights are something I grew up with and have always liked. That said, I quite like the "all red," option and it's in keeping with the "if Singer did Jaguars,” (meant as the utmost compliment) vibe of the car.

I have a thing with lights that if you have one amber, all must be amber; as you have hidden the indicators in the new headlights, I think red (ie not amber) will look better that random amber.

I’m assuming the car won’t have side repeaters because of age…but if it does, it could be the hidden LED approach, much like some of the nicer SVA/IVA Corvette & Mustang conversions.

EJH thank you for the compliment that is kind of the idea!

Yes the car doesn't need side repeaters because of its age. The side markers are only on the one shown because its US spec and I just wanted to see what all red would look like against a black car. My thinking was, as with yours, that if the indicators are going to be integrated at the front and not visible then I don't really want them visible at the rear.

Your most welcome, twas a welcome distraction from the terminally dull conference call I was on.

I love the all red lights, they look very stylish.

Getting ready to cower under a rock and go against the PH massive, I don't like Gingers.

I think a few of us would like to do something like this...but (based on my thoughts) we lack the bottle and budget to delve beneath the paint on an old Jag; this is a vicarious thrill of watching it being done very well and without the pain of knowing what it all costs!

My uncle had a s3 HE in period, followed by a very late Double Six...and they both rotted like sin within a few years of new!
