Genuinely have never had this problem with light coloured daily driver interiors, the only dye transfer that I noticed was when Jayemm on Cars drove my Super V8 and left colour transfer on the seat... Maybe my jeans are not expensive enough to do this biggrin

If Ivory/Tan is off the cards, then red.
Tan was never on the cards I am not a farmer hehe

I’ll count you’re vote for red

Well there certainly appears to be a surprise favourite. I will get some samples. Hopefully by end of next week all the interior stuff will be working and then we only need some small tweaks before it’s drivable for a while.

Just saying the purple is a bit Cadbury milk chocolate.
Bentley diamond double stitch as well? If you want a more quilted look ask your upholsterer to double up on the foam scrim or ask for a sample of different thickness so you get what you’re after
No Damson is much darker than the Cadbury colour when you see it for real. I think I’m gonna stick with the ribbed effect they have on the XJS seats. I did originally think diamond on the red but I think it’s a bit overdone these days

Yeah it is a great paint colour too but that’s already been done and it’s Mercedes Obsidian Black. The Damson leather does look good I’m gonna try and get a sample to match it

Have sent off for a number of colour swatches today in dark purple, dark green and dark blue to see what they are like.

Ok so those of you that have been following for a while will know the car now has XKR brakes and the callipers are Honda Competition White.

I am going to have a set of fuel rail covers made for the engine in the same colour with Jaguar lettering to totally boil the **** of the purists hehe

Got me thinking. The car had stainless door sill covers at the moment. Here is a terrible photo from pre restoration

As the carpeting will be black I was thinking we could strip the door sill guards and paint them the same competition white and have red Jaguar font lettering saying something like “Jaguar XJ coupe” or “Jaguar XJ coupe 6.2 v8” or similar. Make them stand out against the black carpet and black paint.

Thoughts?

Yes thats why this little team is quite useful hehe the other thought was to strip them and redo them (they definitely need that) and then do the lettering in black. It currently just says Jaguar in a slightly different shade of silver but I was thinking of changing it to Jaguar XJ Coupe

You could get the Jaguar letters cut out and back lit so it lights up when the door is opened. Im keeping mine blank. I have originals in aluminium but they are a bit too precious to ruin when I eventually use the car so I’m replacing with just plain no etching polished stainless.
I did think about that just wondered how you would do it in such a flat profile

So Craig, may I ask what you have been quoted to trim the interior? I assume front and rear seats, rear bench custom to match xjs front seat covers? Centre console, door cards stitched or embossed? Carpets with floor mats trimmed to match seat colour? Headliner and ceiling surrounds. Trim for speaker builds?
Probably bits I’ve missed also
Depends what you go for in terms of leather to synthetic mix but for everything to be redone including the carpets, roof lining, boot, rear seat custom built to match the front and include the sub, rear shelf etc ranges from 8k if you do it all in fake leather to 15k if you do it all in the most expensive leather. That includes having whatever patterns you want on the door cards and seats, whatever colour stitching you want and the headrests embossed with the Jaguar growler etc.

I went in a clients car the other day. He had thick saddle leather floor mats to match seats.looked v smart
That’s an interesting idea. I was thinking of using the same carpet as the main carpeting with leather edging matching the seats

London price? Some of the vinyl fake leathers are good to use in boot builds, or go Uber lairy with the sparkly posh yacht stuff. Shut the boot just looks like a classic car. Open the boot and show off smile. I know it’s nice to spec leather everything but look at the original covers and note what material was used and where. Might give you a longer lasting new interior
This place is on the south coast but has done lots of high end stuff. The original car only had leather on the seat faces. The rest of the interior was Ambla. The problem with fake leather is getting one to match the colour you choose. The black is easy in vinyl if you want to keep the costs down and some of it like you say is indistinguishable from leather. So I’m probably gonna use that on the door tops, dashboard and console and then the seats as a whole in whatever leather I choose so the colour is the same all over. Decent quality carpeting and roof lining in black and same carpeting in the boot. The boot is going to have a false wall to hide the audio equipment and battery.

There won’t be any piping in mine. It’s something I really dislike.

Taking photos of leather swatches is really hard. These are all a touch darker than they look
