This looks lovely. I'd much rather buy it than post it, but I'm supposed to be down-sizing.

Seems odd with cloth trim, bet that's quite rare

Quite a lot of them had velour trim. It was a cost free option at the time and actually seen by many as an upgrade.

I got told a couple of versions that the velour cars were Uk Daimler versions as you say velour was considered an upgrade over leather, but if a jag with velour it has been shipped back from Australia as all the jag variants had velour as standard.
Don't know how true any of it is though. I'll have a look at the order form on mine during the week and see if there is a no cost option box?

There were two of these at Brooklands yesterday. They really are stunning looking cars.

A thought about the chrome, I have seen black vinyl wrap used to dechrome cars before to good effect. It would also mean that you can always change your mind.

I have decided that i am going to keep the chrome. Had a good look at lots of photos of the Lister car which has its chrome done in black (and horrible modern plastic bumpers) and I dont think it will work with the chrome lower end. the only bit I am not going to reuse is the trim between the rear wing and the vinyl roof as the roof will be staying without the vinyl.

I'm glad you've done that. I think removal would have made it look awful, but didn't want to say so as it's your money and your car, and most of your other decisions seem spot-on.

A bit of chrome's definitely the right thing on an old Jag, unless it's a genuine racing car.

I think I've done it a few times throughout this thread, but there is a fine line between offering constructive and tttish opinion. I'd hate to cross that line, especially as I'm having one of these cars one day (in fact there's an ad open on my desk right now) and I know I'll need to be seeking help from the experts!

My advice currently would be to remove all outer panels as part of your inspection before you buy it! hehe

But ... but, the ad says no rust!

That due diligence is cheating anyway. The proper hairy-chested petrol head/idiot turns up to view in the dark when the car's wet and pays full asking. Or is it just me?

erm..... no although it was light when i bought this one and compared to the other with lots of visible rust (but a fantastic interior) it looked liked a better buy.....

I justify it in that the other one was a cooking 4.2

I'm really enjoying this thread. I am mildly envious, of course, not just of the car, but seemingly, of all the knowledge and vision you have of how it will all fit together in advance.

Cheers, please join in with your thoughts. My vision may yet fall flat on its face. Lets see when we start to put it back together after its painted in a couple of weeks time. I just think metallic black with lots of chrome, matching black wheels and an interior of red and black leather with piano black wood cant go wrong. We will see.
