You did mention before you didn't particularly like the lattice bbs style wheel. Personally I think they do suit most cars modern and classic.
Halibrands look good on cobras but as you now have said not suited to your car which I tend to agree.
A revolution rfx wheel in 9jx16 wearing 255 45 r16 on the rear and 8jx16 wearing 235 50 r16 on the front would give a staggered rear wheel drive fit and the high profile tyres would soak up road bumps very well. The rfx is a classic wheel style now and always looks good with painted spokes and polished deep dish outer rims. The 16's would keep costs down and won't make the standard front brakes look too small either. Original rfx are hard to find with your specific fit but image wheels do their version

Been in display over the last year at all the classic shows at various points in it's build, and pretty much in it's final form this weekend at the London show.

How odd, that's the Retropower car.

The proper hairy-chested petrol head/idiot turns up to view in the dark when the car's wet and pays full asking. Or is it just me?
That's what I did with my E39 535i, having already bought it unseen on eBay. After all, a sub-100k V8 barge for under 600 quid, when it was 52 grand new, what could possibly go wrong?! Two and a half years and over 25,000 miles later, I haven't regretted it for a moment. It's been bombproof. Mind you, it may be that Munich in 1997 had better rust-proofing than Browns Lane in 1975...

Ah ok. Bit cheeky, the Raven site makes it look like they're doing the work.

I think the idea he has is to facilitate doing this kind of thing for other people farming out production to retropower and others. I know what you mean though not sure I would be happy if I had done all the work

The brown and beige cars always seem to be in better condition than the red, silver or black cars?

That's gorgeous. The XK6 is a less intimidating ownership prospect than a V12 with the Lucas ignition system and it's rats nest of rubber vacuum hoses too.

In what way?

I rather feel that it's driving a classic that offers the reward, not really in having to drive it quickly, so I can see why relative simplicity appeals, especially for a car that might have parts that are difficult to source.

I never drove my XJ12 'fast' per se, but it was still noticeably more enjoyable to drive than my fathers series 2 XJ6.

Unless you lock it in second the v12's are not really fast anyway because the gearbox is all wrong. There is a discernible difference between it and the straight 6 though with everything just feeling more effortless and smooth in the v12. That's not to say a 6 isn't good to drive it's just different. In my opinion of course.

True.

I think if I were building a Euromillions-win XJ these days I'd have it with one of Eagle's 4.7 XK engines, 300 hp at 5000 RPM, all the mid-range in the world, and a five speed manual box.
