Oh that's good. I've spotted the car a few times in th way into work but this was the first time I've seen / heard it under load. Glad you have this under control.
Quick q, was it from under the car or from exhaust?

Difficult to tell. I would have thought it was from the exhaust but can't be certain due to the speed - the wind whips the smoke around into a vague cloud very quickly. I would say though that it definitely seems worse when the car is under load, it was particularly noticeable as you accelerated down the slip road, but at cruising speed it wasn't visible.
Yeah, it is definitely an under load thing, only really noticeable to me if I boot it and stop straight away when smoke comes out the top of the bonnet! Disappears pretty quickly so think some oil is spraying onto the headers under load. Need to get under the car to have a look at the bottom of the headers though.

Assuming you still have the original PCV hoses fitted, any oil caused by blow-by under boost should be ingested back into the throttle body so you shouldn't see it. Also, oil on the headers, assuming you have a leak from elsewhere will make the inside of the car stink of burning oil, especially when in traffic. Leaking oil gets everywhere and you will see the underside of the car coated if it's coming from the front.
Yeah, I need a catch can on the PCV as that is quite oily, but also thought it might be coming from the base of the dipstick tube under high load so not causing an issue in traffic if that makes sense.

I'd be worried about the crankcase pressure if you're blowing oil out of the dipstick but only under load.
Yeah, not sure what else it could be though, as can find no oil evidence on the top side of the motor and it only smokes under load and disappears pretty quickly. Might see if I can upgrade the ID of the PCV hoses to allow a bit better throughput.

Also not losing a significant amount of oil as keep checking the level.

@Wormus - tis white smoke so oil. Just had a check of the rocker cover bolts and manged to tweak one up a little. On closer inspection of both sides, the one cover looks a bit dirtier than the other, so may have finally found the issue....

How old is the engine now? Could it be blow-by the rings into the crankcase?

Is that vented to air or the induction, vacuum side?

Apologies if it has been mentioned; skim reading!

We can all crawl under it on Sunday biggrin
Build date of 14/08/2014 so coming up to its 3rd birthday. PCV vents back into intake.

Ta bud, gonna hope this sorts it. Will check by finding a quiet road and booting it hard before coming to a stop quickly. Was how I first noticed it the other day. Oil smell never makes me feel bad, once managed to spill oil straight on hot headers when topping up and just stood back and waited for it to clear hehe Smoke colour reminds me of the same happening now.

Not had chance to test properly yet as way too hungover to drive today.

On another note, fitting the Kenne Bell fuel pump voltage booster and the Devils Own meth kit on Friday if all goes to plan. Cutting it fine for Thunder Road on Saturday!

Definitely something near the bottom of the engine as had a test yesterday. Opened the bonnet pretty quickly after doing a short pull and had small puffs of smoke coming up through the headers in the same manner as would happen if you had small drops of oil dripping on something hot. Going back to thinking it is the dip stick not quite fitted properly as it was a right to fit when we replaced the headers. Will have a look on Friday when I get the car on the lift.

Forgot to update that I found the issue and was just wiring loom on the headers. One cable tie later and all is good smile Next up on my list is sorting out cooling, intakes were hotter than hell at Thunder Road. I have a water meth kit to fit at some point, and also definitely going down the spacer plate route as have seen another GTS running a shade more peak power but loads more low down torque than mine at SRR with some lovely low intake temps. You could actually put your hand on the blower lid after a run and it wasn't even warm. In fact, Charlie had to let the car run for a while at one point to get ECT's back over 80c as it had cooled so quickly!
