2012 Mazda CX-5 2.0 GT-M. Utterly random purchase.

Actually will be very interested in what you make of this car as me and the OH have been looking at this class of car.
Had a look at the new QashQai and to be honest, apart from the dash, the rest of the interior is a bit horrible. And the 1.2 DiG-T sounds rough as owt when you start it up. Not nice.
Was pleasantly taken aback by how nice the Kia Sportage felt inside but thats powered by a 1.6 NA which I feel is just a bit too weak for something so large. Yet to have a look at a Yeti, but the only other ones that take our fancy with decent petrol engines are the Mazda CX range.
We really like the CX-3 but its basically just new so still a bit pricey. CX-5 has been around a bit longer so the used choice and price is much better. So yeah, very interested to see what you think of it. Particularly comfort and refinement.
All I do know is my mothers old friend has got one ( a new one just before christmas) and they say its the best car they've ever had (and they've had plenty, and not crap either. Plenty of Volvo's, VW's and Mercedes).

Nice car!
I've been running the older CX7 for just over 28 months / 20k miles and it has required zero maintenance (except tyres) inbetween regular services.
I'm a convert to Mazda quality. And the Bose stereo. It's just the 25mpg and £490 VED that is painful, but it drives very nicely and looks smart (to my eyes).
Have fun.

Good buy. That looks exactly like our Mazda 6 but with a distorted aspect ratio (i.e. stretched vertically). The Skyactiv G engines are brilliant, so you shouldn't have any issues. Mine is sweet as a nut and although I'd have preferred more cylinders/power it revs freely, has sharp throttle response and direct steering. We regularly see late 30s to early 40s MPG around town and 45 to 50mpg on a run as well which never hurts.
The CX-5 will obviously sup a little more fuel due to its size and shape, but I think you'll definitely like it once you get familiar with it. They're great fun to drive! Ours seems to much prefer Tesco M99 or VPower rather than 95RON btw, but ymmv. Yes it's an NA engine but it does run a 14:1 compression ratio and I've repeatedly found tangible benefit on the 99 RON fuels. At any rate, enjoy it. I suspect your wife may well decide to lose the Focus when the 'stang arrives!
ETA: Not to rain on your parade but are you sure it's AWD? In the UK at least only the diesel models get that, with the 165ps petrol being 2wd only.

Nice, I wanted one as a company car in the UK but it was veto'd as we had a 'prestige only' policy above a certain level meaning I had to order an X1 instead...
9.2 isn't great economy, I'd expect it to start with an 8 at least, or a 7 if you're trying hard but I'm sure it'l get better as you get used to driving it.
I still think your wife will want to keep this and shift the Focus though, mine would for sure

I got a replacement VW Polo
I appreciate that it may not be a priority at the moment but we all expect a photo of this VW Polo as you've shared pictures of all the other loan cars on your adjacent Ford Focus thread. I really enjoy reading (both) threads, keep it up!
