We have recovered your vehicle.Patrol found the following fault code/s:System : Engine control 1 - 52Q / Diesel CR/EDC SID 206P0251 - Unknown fault. Error Message : .P228C - Fuel metering unit. Error Message : Malfunction.P02FA - Unknown fault. Error Message :

Error code P228C is the fuel control valve outside 'map' limits. So given the diesel in the oil, it's reasonable to assume it working too hard, (rather than not hard enough). This would imply a leak on the high pressure side of the system.
Don't get me wrong, it's possible the HP pump has broken down, and is not able to maintain pressure. But that doesn't account for the diesel in the oil. (I'm assuming it's diesel not water here). So what part of the high pressure system would allow diesel into the oil while leaking? (Ah, yes, the fuel pump).
I wouldn't want to cast aspersions, but with the info supplied, I'm finding hard to believe the fuel pump explanation. (sorry) nerd

Poor show indeed, sorry to hear of your troubles.

I hope you don't mind me asking but with regards to Mk4 Mondeo's, which would you recommend to someone whos after a good solid, reliable car? Not fussed on outright performance, just longevity really. Doing around 26k a year, Hatch preferably

I currently have a Mk3 Mondeo that's running on LPG and it has far surpassed my expectation's but she's over 15 years old now and something newer is needed shortly

get a later facelift mk4.5 they certainly ironed a lot of small problems out on the later models.

avoid the 1.8 tdci its a dog of an engine the 2.0 is probably the sweet spot either 140 or 163 both are exactly the same and will map to 200 bhp easily enough. 2.2 is a cracking lump especially in 200 bhp guise. although they do tend to be expensive and a bit heavier on fuel than the 2l

if you feel brave get one of the petrol models (its only fuel) the 2.5t is a cracking lump with a lovely noise off it but the 2l petrol turbo is a cracker too

I am currently doing 25k a year in a 2.2 auto it's very good although no where near as good on diesel as my old 163 manual.

It's a titanium x sport with every option ticked, I quite like it.

the titanium x half leather is incredibly comfy for long distances. used to think nothing of rattling a full day in mine. the Windsor full leather is lovely but like hens teeth on the mk4s.

the mk4 Mondeos just seemed to be built to last, everything about them just screamed solid. only things I ever managed to replace in 300k+ miles was the rear suspension bushes and an alternator. everything else was fine.

one thing I would say is they are sensitive to oil, like every other Peugeot engine. use a decent quality oil every 10k and it will run forever

We have a s max 2.2 tdci titanium x as a family car which is a great thing - seriously considering a mk4 mondeo to replace my saab 9-3 which I just don't love however competent it may be.

Good luck on sorting yours out, unfortunately it is the dealer service that still separates Ford / Vauxhall / etc from some of the more 'premium' German brands in my experience

still broken,

Ford still being hopeless when it comes to supplying parts, seemingly the fuel pumps in stock but they cant get a gasket or fuel pipe so its looking like i'm not getting back on the road till April,

buy a new car they said, you'll be thankful for that nice reliable car with the new car warranty.

nobody warned me about dealing with what can only be described as the most incompetent people in the world when it comes to supply chains

thanks Ford I wish i'd spent the money on an Insignia instead

That sucks.

What's the plan now? Can you buy the cheapest thing possible which is eligible for taxi plates to get earning again or is that not an option? I guess this'll be your last Ford!

Come on PH, help a brother out...

Someone must have a spare car or be able to offer a 1 month loan until the lemon is finally sold...

I think the chances of someone having a space licensed Glasgow taxi is unlikely, even on PH wink

Many will. But nobody will have one that is Glasgow taxi registered or fits the tight criteria the council require

This sucks, sorry to hear!

You couldn't get your old car back again? - even for a short period? - Or even alternate days or something?

(I would offer my car, but seeing as it only just passes a normal MOT if the tester is blind and deaf I doubt it would help)

and it just gets better and better,

told yesterday the date for parts being available was the 31/03 now that's slipped to week commencing 10/04

as for getting back on the road i'm currently back working in this bad boy

paying £175 a week rental for it is heartbreaking especially seeing i'm still paying for my Mondeo as well.

Andy barrett Ford UK CEO if your on here reading this your company is a pile of dog turd.

That's pretty shocking. Not just how long it's taking but you have to suffer that!

Rob if your paying for two cars now coUld you look at getting compensation from Ford.

What I mean is your paying 175 a week extra because of Fords incompetence.

I thought this sort of service was in the past with Ford but clearly not.

Are you on twitter - for all its flaws many companies use it as part of marketing/communications and sometimes you can get a response on there

Surely Ford are responsible for some compensation whilst you are driving that 'thing'?
