Well aren't we a happy chappy tonight hehe
Hah, after re-reading my post it did sound a bit grumpy, but actually wasn't meant to come across that way. Meant more as a bit of a piss take/friendly jibe to the OP smile .

I think this Mondeo is a million mile Mondeo in the same way some of my cars have been to the moon and back.

Obviously they've never been in space, it's just a saying wobble

You've got some way to go in order to beat this...

Saw this in an auction catalogue and thought of this thread:

I've always wondered who buys cars like that! A colleague of mine has a 180k Corsa B 1.2 (worth about -2p) which is the highest of people I know, I just can't see the logic in buying something like that, they never even seem that cheap!

Fair play to the OP, it's quite fun to see a car really get used to see just how many miles a modern car can do. Even 300k is impressive when you think of the sort of beating cars take daily. Good luck on the quest to 1mil!

Makes you wonder how many others have done that sort of mileage with substantially lower figures showing on the odometer!!

I ran my old e39 to well over 200k and I checked the MOT, it was still on the road last year with 140k showing. My old E61 which I sold to some Latvians with 205k was last MOT'd with 189k on the clock.

The thing that gets to me is I keep a meticulous log of all work done on my cars, the e61 in particular had loads done between 180-200k and it was all logged and receipted, I guess the guys who took her away threw it all in the bin before they shaved the mileage.

Makes no sense to me rolleyes

Know quite a few taxis that get a regular haircut

Ariel and plate holes filled then sold with half the miles

A lot of PCP returns get that too, or get clocked before they go for a service each year. You get people taking cars on 3 year deals, 6k miles per year, doing 20k a year and winding the miles back just before they go back to the dealer.

In a sense, a mileage like that is proof of maintenance. I don't suppose you can take a Mondoe—or any car—to nearly a million kilometres without looking after it properly. It may be that it is in better order than a 150,000mile car that has been run—like most cars these days—on less than a shoestring.

of which there are hundreds around here with that mileage on 3 year old Mercs.
I doubt it! Modern Mercs are too unreliable to attain those sort of mileages. 20 years ago maybe, but not today!

Tell that to the Munich taxis which are mostly all E classes.

quite a few covering big miles,

know a few local airport transfer companies that have e classes plodding up and down the motorways all day covering huge figures, although these are normally disposed of before they hit 3 yr old, funnily enough the ones that surface a few weeks later on autotrader tend to have be missing a lot of the miles smile

That's pretty impressive, even at 8 years old. An average of around 190 miles every single day of it's life so far.

Think it might all be overfrown

Very taken with the new mk5 estates

And I can see me doing a deal to put one on the driveway this week at some point.

This leaves me a massive 15 foot long headache to deal with the current moon mileage Mondeo

She's just turned 5 year old and in tempted to just park her up as a spare taxi/track toy tip run car but seems such a waste

Anyone have any inkling what I should ask for if I put her up for sale
Very difficult to put a value on something with so many miles I know she's not worth a lot but where would you guys see her sitting personally I'm thinking put her up for £1200 with a few to getting a grand back.

Thoughts please

It's in such good condition and well looked after, surely it makes way more sense just to keep going?

It seems such a tiny amount of money for what is a lovely car and obviously well maintained - but I suppose the market for a car with that mileage & ex taxi is somewhat limited!

I reckon someone would snap your hand off for a grand, maybe push for a bit more and see how you get on?

I would think a bit more, maybe advertise at £1750 with a view to taking £1500.

If you weren't so far away I'd have this off you for a grand, no question whatsoever. Maybe ask a bit more to start?

Would you get the hybrid or another diesel?

I'd probably hold on to it for a bit longer, MK5 will always be around!
