I have the new 1.6 CDTi in a Astra K as a daily hack in 136 guise.
Its the best thing about the car, really refined thing and it shifts well.
That said that is a much bigger and less aerodynamic thing to attach it to.
Good luck!

By the far the best van I've driven and certainly the most powerful (more than Transits and a T5). Assumed it had a decent 2.0 diesel in it... was blown away to realise it was a 1.6!

Ours is only the baby biturbo 125bhp but it pulls well from idle and it's nothing that can't be sorted with a knowledgable chap with a laptopBy the far the best van I've driven and certainly the most powerful (more than Transits and a T5). Flash map takes it up to 175bhp and 285 lb/ft of torque
Should be lively enough at that

Hows the Mondeo running Glasgowrob?
broke down on Thursday, and got hauled in on the back of the wagon a new (very expensive stop start ) battery later and she's on the road within an hour.
Passed her taxi test on Friday (slightly stricter version of the standard MOT but done every 6 months.
currently on the rental fleet at the moment getting absolutely babied by a lovely lady who never takes her above 60 . far cry from the days of trying to headbutt the horizon at warp factor 9
aaand its gone,
onto fleet duties that is.
the mk5 is now into general fleet use and getting used to life as a traditional minicab
i've went and got myself a new err mondeo .
and as she should look when not getting rattled round the highlands
feels very familiar in a lot of ways and has a sense of solidity about it that the mk4 mondeo had also marginally quicker even at 2 ton 700nm of torque will nip you along nicely
