I'd probably hold on to it for a bit longer, MK5 will always be around!
This man speaks sense. While it's your main car it's earning you money, and justifying all the work you have done (and no doubt are still doing) to it. As soon as you swap out for a newer model it becomes a cost, a luxury if you will. If there's no rush to get a MK5 you'll be able to get a better deal on a later model when the time eventually comes smile

Makes you wonder how many others have done that sort of mileage with substantially lower figures showing on the odometer!!

I ran my old e39 to well over 200k and I checked the MOT, it was still on the road last year with 140k showing. My old E61 which I sold to some Latvians with 205k was last MOT'd with 189k on the clock.
I had a 1997 325Td Touring about 13/14 years ago - I bought it off the company I worked for as on of the ex-fleet cars with 90k on & when I sold it 2 years later, it had 144k on.

I was looking at the MOT history site the other week at some of my old cars and was pretty surprised to (a) see it was still going, and (b) when it last had an MOT in Feb 2015 it now had 122k on...

Another heavy couple of days Sunday/Monday

43 hours 2100 miles cruise on at an indicated 80 95% of the time 52 mpg very happy

currently showing 304k smile

Still haven't decided what's her fates going to be though, new Mondeo arrives on the 9th may I'm leaning towards backup car/let the wife have her for taking the dog out

New mondeo ? So this won't be a million mile mondeo at all then, that's a let down I was hoping to see it actually reach. 1,000,000 miles

It wasn't meant as a literal title....age limits will have got to it before the 1m miles, as a taxi.

Then why title it as such......... Why not 300,000 mile mondeo ( taxi laws allowing )

Just a shame that's all

let me know if you decide to sell. A quick trip down from Aberdeenshire would see me with a decent commuting wagon with good service history.

she's possibly going to be rehomed which will be a sad day but I do have an inkling to keep her household lugging and potentially some track action

well the new shed arrives on the 9th May provisionally.

still not too sure if i'll part with the bus. the thinking changes every 10 minutes at the moment.

1) sell her
2) use her as a general purpose dog/tip/ikea runabout.
3) track slag

checking oil and water this morning I found myself contemplating what would fit in the mk4 bay without major headaches, I reckon quite a few things Saab LP9 would make a strange but fun conversion,

Why don't you go against the general flow and get one of the scummy "mileage correction consultants" to wind it up to 1,000,000

It's the same platform as the Volvo S80, which was available with AWD and a V8. It should all bolt in...

I don't think it's that simple, you'd need a transmission tunnel for the prop and a load of custom fabrication to make room for the rear diff. Nowhere near being viable I'd say.

Nonsense. Just offer the engine and drivetrain up to the front of the car and slam the bonnet with sufficient authority.

Sheesh.
