Oh very nice!
Had a red '88 with the crappy first cat 1.9 engine.
But the handling/steering was fantastic!

Had to sell it cos it was constantly falling apart. smile

I'd buy a good GTI16 in a heartbeat tho. smile

I think I see this up at knockhill and was pleased to see it as my first car was a red one. I did notice the gti16 badge and wondered if it was the mi16 or gti6 engine inside.

Cracking car, I've always preferred the 309 to the 205.

I was a teenager reading Max Power when the Dimma and Eccose wide arch kits were all the rage

I thought this was coolyikes

Now I'd definitely be more into your car or either of these...

Drove a billy-basic 309 as a company pool-car back in the late 80s - what a POS!

Never had a Peugeot, and never will! So much more awfulness out there......

Great track car base!

I've had a few of these and are such a q car In It's day as everyone wanted the 205 instead. My mates all drove novas and fiestas.

It must go well? Do you have any track videos as I'd love to see how it goes on track!

.
Yeah I converted it to the Xsara VTS lump/box,fitted the ultra light billet flywheel and put a set of uprated crank bearings in it.Huw did the ECU swap etc after he bought it.
I Did all the underside too, although last time I spoke to Huw he had redone some of the underside I think.
Rear beam was stripped and rebuilt by jord294 with new bearings/seals/one new arm pin and fitted with Xsara VTS torsion bars, also fitted solid beam mounts.

Its been looked after anyway.

Been very busy the past month and it Blew a power steering pipe the last time i had it out so its just sat in the garage. The radiator also decided it didn't want to hold water anymore while sitting doing nothing so need to get that sorted now as well.

always something smile

Great to see a thread on it! Any updates?

I also owned it, bought it from Dave Baker, Stew's(BakerBM.com) brother. Was powered by a rebuilt Mi16 on twin 45's when i had it, Goodwood full black leather interior, 1.6 box with Kaaz LSD, koni's & eibachs etc.

Was an awesome car, my favourite of all the 309's i've owned! Kev bought it from me.

I had a 309 XS when I was 17... it ended up full GTi spec with a 1.9 and 1.6 gearbox.

Absolutely loved it, even still have a little red model on my desk and I still find myself looking at the classified on a semi-regular basis.

If this ever comes up for sale...
