Washed the car today, first time since the crash. Turns out it’s blue, I’d forgotten smile

That’s all the news there is - mileage is nudging ever upwards as it’s had a few decent motorway trips recently but still nothing to report.

It finally decided to bite me, front spring snapped and went through the tyre. Bit of a mess.

All sorted easily enough and the car soldiers on, 78k on the clock now.

Clock is ticking now, my new lease car arrives in March so either my wife will take the Mondeo or it'll be sold. I'm going to get the accident damage repaired at a local body shop, been quoted less than £300 to fit the new door and roll and paint the damaged arch. Should at least make it presentable and MoT-worthy again!

Mine is up to 103,500 now, still averaging around 2k/month. Still not let me down once!

In the last 35k miles in my ownership it has had a few new bulbs, some just upgraded, full set of discs and pads, a pair of aero wiper blades, a set of Avon tyres, a wheel bearing and two oil and filter services.

Idle hangs a bit long when cold, exhaust blowing/back box packing all gone, and boot gas struts getting a bit weak. Some jobs for winter... Lastly, nearside rear door bottom is getting pretty rusty but can't see it on the outside yet - think i'll just leave it.

Not done badly for 600 quid.

The end has come, after almost two years of sterling service it's going to a new owner on Tuesday.

In the end I couldn't be bothered getting the bodywork damage repaired, so it's on it's way for an absolute song, unrepaired and with the new door in the boot. It also needs a thermostat and an aux belt pully/tensioner which again I was going to get done, but never found the time for so they're going with it too.

A triumph of laziness, but I really couldn't be bothered getting the bodywork done and spending half a day in the garage fitting the parts for what would net out to a couple of hundred quid extra at best in my pocket once it was all finished.

I won't miss it, but I don't mean that in a bad way. It was a very good car on every objective level, I just won't miss my dishwasher when that needs replacing either.
