That looks mega. Did you paint the holes when you drilled them?

Yes. I already had touch up paint from Ford in the correct colour, so was very little work.

Only separate expense was a special drill bit for about £30.
Excellent. Glad to hear it. The spoiler really finished it off, without being too... Spoiler... If you know what I mean.

The new spoiler & US plate looks good!

A tip regarding holes in bumper, try injecting a small amount of hot melt glue into the hole and push down the excess to make it flush, then use the touch up brush. I did this on my front bumper when I switched to a short plate. Was not 100%, but better than holes!!

Keep up the good work...!

Do you speak Dutch or just rely on their excellent ability to speak perfect English?
I can follow most of a conversation in German (ex forces) but Dutch always sounded too guttural for me to try and get my head around.

Exhaust looks good, looking forward to the video clip.
Been having similar exhaust pain to you, ended up making the car way too loud, got to go back for some new back boxes this week...

What dia. pipe do Ford use?

Decision time. Winter tyres or a winter car.....?

So I've bought this from a friend here in NL.

One owner from new, 95k miles, FVSH, top spec etc etc. £1100. Bargain! A decent set of winter tyres would be around the same price.

I'll be putting it on a Dutch plate and running it as a winter hack.

I'll start a thread for it at some point, matey is delivering it on Monday morning. Will be great to have a Volvo again. I knew I wouldn't stay away for long!
I bet that would have cost a lot more if you'd bought it in NL smile

Quite right.

As a left hooker and with these miles/history, it'd be worth around €7-8k here in NL.

With it being a RHD id wager it being sell-able for about €4-5k here.

All said and done, I should be on the road with a cloggy plate for about €2k, which isnt bad going. To be honest the only shonky aspect is the Dutch roadtax, which will be around €150 per month on this, so ill be keeping it registered during the winter months only.

With that sort of VED, people buy these cars to drive.... nearly all examples of this car at this age will have >200k miles on the clock.
Wouldn't Dutch BPM be massive for such a car unless you bring it into the country as a household good upon moving to live in NL - in which case it would need to have been registered in your name at least 6 months prior to import to NL? So no wonder you see loads of Eastern European cars in NL which still have their PL/HU/CZ etc plates - happily cheating on Dutch road tax.

Had a perfect condition Alfa GT Diesel in Germany which would have cost a perverted 5 digit sum in tax to import to NL so had to sell it locally in Germany. Now drive a sub 1000kg petrol daily I bought in NL which incurs 20 quid road tax a month.

Can't think of another country that hates motorists as much as NL do...

Excellent update.

The Mustang is a hell of a car and I've enjoyed reading about it, but oddly pleased to see you'll have another Volvo on the fleet! Bargain too.

BPM depreciates on a yearly basis. So with this being 14 yrs old the import taxes are approx €350.
Thanks. That's good to know. Must have overlooked that info back then in my shock stasis from seeing the BPM calculation. Given loads of sheds here are imported from Germany by Dutch dealers it would make sense that there's a linear decrease in BPM, otherwise those cars could never get imported in the first place.

My spidey sense goes off, when things promise power like that.
It will need more fuel somewhere along the line to get that power.

Hodrodgarage did a test with some on a 04 (i think) Mustang, they said the ones without the ecu tune made no difference.

Id like to read the reports on the gains of that filter setup. smile

It's the other way around, people can only run these cars with the high VED (tax) if they do a lot of km's. Diesel cars are taxed to buggery here in NL and the only way to get break even on a diesel is by driving a lot of km's and thus make use of the lower price of diesel. If you don't do a lot of km's, then petrol is the way to go.

Yeah, Dutch road tax is a bit of clusterf*ck. I drive a company car so I only have to worry about my bike's road tax, but the whole "bijtelling" thing on company cars is an even bigger hornet's nest. Roll on 2017 were things get less complicated biggrin

Hello chums!

Next upgrade ordered.... one of these badgers:

http://www.pmas-maf.com/product/velocity-air-intak...

A PMAS cold air intake.

CAIs are a bit of a minefield, as some do more harm than good, and quite a few do nothing at all. The better CAIs require the ECU to be remapped to allow for the larger diameter intake (or come with an insert that keeps the computer happy, but restricts HP and airflow).

This clever bugger doesn't need that, as it comes with a recalibrated MAF that allows for the increased airflow and BHP without having to flash the ECU.

Excellent!

In terms of power increase this is the best out there, independently reviewed to give +20-30bhp. I like.

Absolutely no-one stocks this in Europe, so its a +/- 3 week delivery, but it should be worth it.

Later on, in combo with a LUND ECU flash +50-60bhp gains are possible (combo of intake and ECU flash), which is not to be sniffed at for about 1000euro all-in. smile
