Damn it!

OP, I've never met you, but now I dislike you.

Before you posted this, I was plenty happy with my '12 plate Titanium X 163 (2.0 litre diesel). Now I have a serious case of car envy. Haaaaarumph! irked

Lovely car, although one that I never knew existed... thumbup

This is indeed a Titanium X, it says so on the boot :P Titanium X Sport to be precise, which means it has 240bhp rather than 200bhp. Dunno why Ford made it so confusing with this model, should have just called it the Mondeo ST like they did with previous generations, after all I believe this is the fastest production Mondeo ever made. Even the latest generation version comes with the identical powerplant, but in a heavier car so is slightly slower. Sure I read somewhere that Ford are releasing a V6 version though with 300bhp.

I hate to contradict you on your car but the "Sport" refers to the suspension and "bodykit"/ styling, not the engine. IIRC it's 30mm lower (and stiffer) than the non-sport plus different bumpers/exhausts trims (and other trim).

The 2.5T Estate is quicker (7.5s against 7.7s to 60) and faster (150mph against 146mph) wink however the ST220 Estate is quicker still at 7.3s. frown

More seriously I think the real difference is that the ST was a separate "halo" model with special suspension etc. The 2.5T/2.0T are just the top engined versions, there is nothing special or unique about the trim, suspension or anything, you can get the same trim for any engine in the range. That said I think the base model Mk4 is better than the Mk3 (although heavier and larger) and the Mk4 "sports" versions arguably handle better than the ST220.

In short kind of like the difference between a BMW 340i M-Sport and an M3.

So this has now gone, been PX'd in for a Focus ST. Mrs z has a 7 seater now which meant I could get into something a bit smaller and more fun.
