I'm quite into retro gaming and loved the C64. How did I miss this? I have searched on here.

I'll go for a computer over a handheld I think. The cartridge slot is a good idea. It has licensed BIOS so it's not an emulator and should run software more reliably.
It's British too which makes a nice change.

I think the handheld version is a great idea. I would be interested in one. Interesting to read that people are still making games for it!

I don't see the point in the desktop version as you can do the same on a PC or laptop with an emulator. You wouldnt even need a new PC, a 10+ year old one would do the job.

Well I dunno. I've not found a 100% perfect emulator yet, and some games I was good at and can complete in one sitting all seem to fail near the end. Emulating old cassettes and diskettes, it seems, is almost as unreliable as the real thing!
I'm hoping with it having official BIOS etc it'll be a bit better. To me it almost looks cool enough to be worth the $150 (£102) on its own! Perfect re-imaging of it I think.

Interesting that they are pushing the C64DTV aspect, claiming to have people who were behind that in the team. Jeri Ellsworth designed the hardware / firmware solo. She was asked the other day if she was behind this, and said explicitly that she had nothing to do with the THE64. I'm guessing they are going with Indiegogo and not Kickstarter because Kickstarter require proof of working hardware before they will allow it. I also seem to remember that Indiegogo also release money before the successful completion of funding.
