I bet the cockpit voice recording of the US aircraft would make for interesting listening. I wonder what type of "reconnaissance" aircraft it was?

I believe it was a P8 Poseidon. I bet the cockpit voice recording of the US aircraft would make for interesting listening. I wonder what type of "reconnaissance" aircraft it was?

Mr Hernandez said the Su-27's "erratic and aggressive manoeuvres" also threatened the safety of the US aircrew, coming within 7.6m (25ft) of the fuselage of the American plane before conducting its barrel roll.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Friday defended the flybys of warplanes over the US Navy destroyer in the Baltic Sea, insisting they were looking at the ship only "from a safe distance".

Maybe some form of non-lethal retaliation is needed.....like chaff canisters filled with paint fired so the Russian aircraft flies through the paint cloud and returns to base covered in pretty colours
I had similar thoughts along the lines of 'How far could I throw a bucket of galley waste'Steve

It does amaze me that the US accuse the Russians of aggression when the US are camped off their coastline. Had it been in the Mid-Atlantic or near the US coast I can understand, but you cant expect to put military assets near someone else's water and not expect some company.
Can you imagine how folk like Trump would react to a Russian fleet a few miles off New York MartG said:

Trick of the lens or am I going mad but has this aircraft got different engines on each wing.
Just painted a different colour on the inside. I think the ones on the other wing will be black too if you looked at it from the other wing. Why? Like all modern cars, black is the new white!;)
Photography related I think I read somewhere???

Key point of that link:RC-135 Cobra Ball - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_RC-135#RC-135...
"The Cobra Ball monitors missile-associated signals and tracks missiles during boost and re-entry phases to provide reconnaissance for treaty verification"
So the plane has every right to be where it was.

That is an extrapolation, depending on what the treaty mentions as valid means of verification, this may or may not be valid, and depending on previous deployments of those aircraft, this might have been an unusual move anyway."The Cobra Ball monitors missile-associated signals and tracks missiles during boost and re-entry phases to provide reconnaissance for treaty verification"
So the plane has every right to be where it was.
