Has anyone tried to get one? Our patio is perfectly nestled in a right angle behind our house, so is ideal for a 5m x 2m right angle sun shade/temp rain shade for the BBQs....but it is such hard work trying to find someone who can provide one in the UK that is not a 3.6m (or standard sizes) triangle or big rectangle.

Has anyone had one custom made? Able to offer a rough idea of cost & quality?

Many thanks,

I bought a standard, off the shelf shade sail for my koi pond from here Kemp sails I'm not an expert on shade sails, but it seems to be of pretty high quality. They do custom sizes if you can't find anything off the peg.

I've been looking into these as an alternative to a carport, and got the following quote from Solent Sail Shades for custom rectangular sails;

8m x 3m = £1,300
3.5 x 4.5m = £950
3m x 7m = £1,200

The above are inc VAT prices

Bleeding heck, a big standard 5m x whatever is only around £50 on eBay, I figured maybe £150 tops! It's only canvas ran through a sewing machine.

Look alike I'll have to create my own... Using a cut down rectangular and stitched up the edge!

That's what I though also, my quote is for Ferrari 502 material, which they list as Light Duty, and the sail has a wired edge.

I should be cheaper for me to build the carport out of wood and roof, that to purchase a custom sail.

Possibly not what you're looking for but we put a 4m x 4m glass veranda in a similar position. Not cheap — but a lot less expensive than similar products we looked at. We're really pleased with it. From these people: https://www.123v.co.uk/verandas/

I need to rebuild my carport as I ripped the old one down this week. Its a short term thing as in the next 3 years I'll be putting an extension in its place. I never considered a sail but I wouldn't have thought that it would stand up to the rigours of a British winter?

I was figuring 3 heavy bolts into the house, with a decent gap round the edges to help stop the wind being trapped? Along with heavy duty canvas?
