The guy told me the car cost him roughly 7k just a few months before so quite believable someone was spending decent money on it. He also got it from Glasgow so....

My last Range Rover had the same optional extra arches. My e46 had the special extra rust version.

So the gearbox is fine...

Friend worked on it while I was at work today.

The flex plate has failed the same as my other Range Rover we think. He got it out of drive and into park and managed to get the bonnet open. Started the car up and it had a horrible noise, he feared the engine was fked - till my mum said it sounded the same as the other with the flex plate gone.

This car was advertised as having had the flex plate done, however according to this link the new ones are crap.

Not actually checked it yet but believe its the same fault as my other. So a £25 part and 7 hours or so of my friends time and it should be fixed.

Had it fault read and the only problems were a glowplug and something else that wasnt a big deal (dont remember what).

Shirley just a slip of the keyboard: 'need replacing' and 'need to be replaced' accidently conflating?

Anyway, best of luck Slow. I really enjoyed the other RR thread. Oh, and I would also agree that mums are great!
