A bit "scene" for my liking but Good to see another E36 getting some love, had my 328i sport for 10 years now and I still love it and certainly makes me smile jumping in this after driving a daily in the week ????
I think it's a bit 'scene' for most peoples liking - around here anyway - but it's how I want the car.

I've got to say yours looks stunning and Avus Blue (?) is one of my favourite colours these cars come in.

Trouble with the Police too - care to elaborate?

Yours looks awesome, unusual colour too, I like it. I've got a lot more plans for mine, so maybe I'll even change the views of a few once I'm finished.

Nice to see another thread on e36s but I have to echo that the slammed suspension/fat wheels/big spoiler ruin it for me. BMW got these cars pretty much right from the factory and I think that a nice standard 328i Sport will turn far more heads then all the messed about with ones (and is far more rare!).

Now that's what a 328i should look like.

Beauty!

And thirded.

Reminds me how my I miss my old one, even the same colour. Good luck to the O/P though, glad that you're enjoying it. Sorry to read that you're road trip turned into a bit of an ordeal.

Brave posting this on here, because most members hate stance.

Looks alright though, not a huge fan of the Brocks personally, or the white tails on a dark car.

There's no way you should have paid that fine either, literally just making things up because you're English, knowing they'll probably get away with it. I'd be surprised if much of the fine was actually 'paid' either. Still, it's done now! First case I've heard of it going bad this year, only seen a few friends get small fines.

Like your car fella, bit low but if you like it then that's all the matters
You did a nice number on getting your M body kit as well, spent ages trying to get one in Boston green and ended up failing.
Look forward to your next updates

I've had three 328s, all have handled much better for spirited driving after being stiffened from wobbly oem spec, and lowered.

Ah so was that your E36 parked at Faak/Arneitz seemingly abandoned for days? I wondered what the story was!

We'll have to agree to disagree - personally I'd rather trust the engineers at BMW.

I'm not disputing that OEM is best overall, especially for comfort/NVH, but a set of good coilovers, bushes and geometry will improve the handling. You can't really dispute that.

I'm sorry I just can't help myself. Look at what you've done to that lovely car. Just look at it.

But what do you actually gain for road use? Does that slight edge really make up for all the crashes and bumps and the extra harshness? And what is the point in it if you have to spend 90% of your time steering around potholes and uneven road surfaces?

I never said it was better for road use, but then I'm not also meaning go as low as this, or stupidly stiff Spring rates etc.

All I'm saying is that the handling can be improved because the original suspension was setup as a compromise. If you want to sacrifice comfort, you'll get better performance.

Yeah, I get that, but I have modified cars myself and driven other modified cars, and I think the best "real world" point to point cars I have driven were all standard (Puma, UK Mk.2 MX-5, and e36 328 Sport). Everything else that was modified (lower, stiffer, etc.) was compromised - not just in the comfort stakes, but loss of control from skipping over road imperfections, or grounding out/tyre rub. Funnily enough, although I have driven and owned faster cars then all of these, I couldn't make progress at anything like the same rate. One of the quickest point to point to cars I have owned was my clapped out old Saab 9000 (with soggy suspension and crazy long gear rations) - it might corner on its door handles but gripped well and had good ground clearance.

Manufacturers make compromises for all sorts of reasons - cost, comfort, etc. Maybe I am getting old but it just makes me a bit sad when a nice car gets messed about with. e36s seem to suffer more than most (cheap RWD for "skidz")

No slight meant on the O/P, it is his car to do with as he wants.

I'm not disagreeing with you that generally modifying a car does make it worse for real world use. I think the exception being my E91 with custom Spring rate coilovers, mainly because the standard suspension was awful!

Here's my 328, extensively modified yet in a stealth manner:

The complete mods are in in my readers cars thread. The aim was pretty standard looks with great ride and handling.

I nearly didn't post for that reason but I don't mind taking the negative comments - I understand this isn't to most people's taste.

I love the Brock wheels and have had a lot of positive comments about them, I think you're the first person to say you don't like them. I am planning to change them soon though for something a little more special.

I paid the fine to save the hassle of trying to leave the country without number plates and documents. I originally told them they weren't having my number plates but they threatened to arrest me if I didn't comply, which would have ruined my holiday completely. Frustrating, but like you say it's done now.

Yes that was me - I was waiting for a friend who was driving from the UK to Worthersee to bring rear adjustment cups with him. Without these I wouldn't have been able to raise the car so not sure how I would have got it home.

Thank you - yours looks awesome too! I really like the Style 24 wheels.

I appreciate it isn't to everyone's taste - as I've already said many times! - but everything I've done to the car is reversible. If I wanted I could put the car back to standard tomorrow.

Basically the same thing as you, was staying in Velden and decided to nip to the shops to get some stuff, got pulled in for a road side check by the lovely Austrian police, then taken to the fire station up the road where they went over everything basically doing the MOT test and my fine was worked out from there, the fine came to £850 plus the fees. Wanted to pay for it on card but they drove me to the bank and made me draw the cash out. Would love to go back to worthersee again but i would just fly and rent a car, its not worth the bother of taking my own
