Good video, great car. I look forward to updates documenting your experience of living with the car.
I've heard good things about that dealership.

It was a stroke of luck really. I couldn't afford to spec a car from the factory, so I was relying on finding a car that was "in-stock". I went to Leeds on business and decided to stop by their showroom to see the orange car I knew they had. When I got there, this was in the showroom having just been delivered. We struck a deal on it that worked for me and worked for them.

One of the few issues I had with choosing a car was because they are so rare seeing them in a variety of colours involved a fair bit of travelling. This was the first one I saw in Yellow, I knew it was a colour that would appeal to me but when I saw it in the flesh I knew it was the one!
Is it significantly cheaper to buy like that then? I didn't realise that.

It was for me getting my challenger as well.

You have to be flexible on spec (colour, options etc...) to make it work. Dealers hate having stock lying around, they like to move it as quickly as possible. So you're more likely to get a deal on something that's been hanging around a while.

I got mine for a significant discount over ordering new. I have to live with a compromise or two on what I would have ordered out of the factory, but the discount soon made that worthwhile.

Sorry, O/T.

Really interesting to see a proper owner's diary right from the moment you collect it - love things like this. The car looks great and hope you enjoy it.
This. Better camera angle / mount in the car please and you're all good!

Thanks for the great comments gents.

I'm currently editing several more videos, which will of course be linked here when they are done.

The car is going in for its running-in service next week, after that I will be able to use the full rev range but honestly even with just a limited selection available it's an awesome machine and extremely quick across country.

The videos shall hopefully get better week by week, all of the feedback is going into the next videos and I hope the improvements will be tangible ones.

This is the next video I've uploaded. I've got two more waiting in the wings and two more still in the edit bay.

This isn't so much a diary entry as a bit of a Brucie bonus. After filming yesterday, I offered my friend a drive and we decided to capture his reaction on camera.

To be honest, as a car lover, it's this kind of stuff that I live for, to make someone else happy with something so "simple" as a car really is joy itself.

Brave ! Must be a good mate to allow him to go from a Pug 106 1ltr / Dennis fire engine to an Evora. Sounds nice though.

It's alright, I'm getting a go in the fire engine. It's not very PH, but admit it, you would if you could!

I should also say that in the near future I would be very happy to do a Q&A type video, if anyone wants to know anything about the car, I'll be happy to put together a short video explaining stuff to the best of my knowledge. Opinions come freely but facts can take a bit longer!

Just watched ep.1 - excellent work from the pair of you. Really enjoyed it, so much better than the usual 1 dimensional video blogs.

Great car James. I've just watched all three videos and really enjoyed them. You've got yourself another subscriber thumbup

It was a breath of fresh air to see a regular, knowledgeable, eloquent guy enjoying his new car. Much better than the same old stuff we have come to expect from the likes of Shmee, Seb Delaney, Supercars of London etc. That lot are quickly disappearing up their own exhaust pipe in my opinion.

Constructive criticism?

Only a couple of small things really. When you're filming two people in the car, I think it's better to position the camera between them, rather than off to one side. Avoids the perspective being all off.

Also, your mate almost gave us the pleasure of his sex face because of the noise, yet us viewers couldn't really hear it. Perhaps a mic down by the exhaust would be a good idea?
The Evora 400 sounds great - Smoking Tire's YouTube video of it demonstrated that, so I'd love to hear more of your car's exhaust.

Keep the videos coming. I'm looking forward to the next installment biggrin

Thanks Vroom

I certainly don't consider myself any sort of expert on cars, but I am definitely trying to create a "car" vlog rather than a "lifestyle" vlog. In future videos I want to get into some more technical details, but I'm glad you liked the style of what I'm going for. I think it's going to appeal to the kind of people that buy a Lotus!

It's hard to appreciate when watching the video, but the windscreen in the Evora is extremely close to the occupants. That camera was actually a 170 degree lens, also if we stick it in the middle of the screen we wind up with a huge blind spot. It was a last minute thing, future videos we will be experimenting with multi camera setups and things.

I have not yet made a video dedicated to the sound of the car and that's for one reason only - the car is still being run in so I can't give it maximum attack. The running in service is happening next week, after that my first port of call will be a video dedicated almost exclusively to the pornographic sound the thing produces.

Your subscription and feedback are both very much appreciated and I hope you enjoy the future installments!

Great videos! thumbup

Well shot(they should be given your day job) and very informative. I like the warts an all approach too!

If you want an unbiased opinion of the car then I suppose I could make some space in my diary!laugh

Keep up the good work.

This is the next video, it's more talky but covers the spec sheet of the 400. For me coming from German cars it was quite hard to get my head round the fact that it is such a small options list! The Lotus website also isn't very clear so I thought I would do my best at explaining some of the standard/optional features

Best vid so far. Very informative and very professional.
Are you hoping one of the new Top Gear presenters doesn't work out?;)

Only thing I could pick up on that one was that a bit of camera shake on some of the shots, that and a bit of wind noise.
But overall, very good.thumbup

Thankyou Rick. I'm aiming to improve with every one.

Our trusty cameraman forgot his tripod on this one, d'oh! We're getting there though. I'm really trying to avoid the "man walking with gopro in hand" look, where possible.

Only Harry Metcalfe can pull that off with any panache!
