I really like your videos. They would be even better if you invest in a tripod so the footage isn't so shaky. Keep up the good work and enjoy the car! Stunning beast.
Thanks Tom. A tripod will be on its way, annoyingly I do have a real nice top-of-the-line cinema tripod but it's far too big to fit in the car! A new one is on my long list of stuff to buy, getting better as we go.Thankyou. I'm no presenter, but I've seen many of the youtubers out there and I think the key to an enjoyable video is mainly to watch someone who enjoys what they do, and knows a little bit about the topic! I get a bit frustrated when I see people who "spot" cars for a living, then buy one, then have no idea about them...
My natural habitat is behind a camera but in this case the car was just so good I felt I owed it to people to get the info out there, in case anyone else is considering one. Lotus are awful at marketing.

Thanks Vroom
I am extremely careful when it comes to placing external cameras, I don't like placing them directly in wind as I don't trust any suction mount fully.
I have a dedicated mount for the front camera glued behind the front numberplate. I actually deliberately leave the steadyshot function of the cameras off, because I find that leaving a bit of vibration in helps enhance the sensation of speed.
I will do some POV videos in the near future though which should show off the driver's perspective a bit more.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback!

Here are two more video updates. Actually filmed a while ago but due to the way I have been spreading out releases they've wound up coming out now. So a few things I discuss have already happened.
In this first video, I basically talk about my car history and my journey to a 400, including the cars I tried along the way. I wasn't sure how well a 20-minute "talkie" would go down, but actually this video has prompted more interaction than any other, so I am pleasantly surprised.

The next video is an update and was filmed just after my running in service. The car is back at Stratton Motors having some more work done, I will update on that once it is complete.

I have enjoyed all your videos but I found this particularly interesting. I seriously considered an Evora before I bought my Maserati, it is good to see the comparison with the older car because an Evora is high on the list for my next fun car.
One question is why we got a shot of the engine in the S but not a comparative shot of your engine?
One comment I am getting back from a few videos is people don't want them too long, so I am trying to keep the run-time down where I can. On the same day I shot the Evora 400 "walk-around" video and if you have a look at that you should see the engine quite clearly. One question is why we got a shot of the engine in the S but not a comparative shot of your engine?
It would appear that PH has a problem with "monetised" clips. I wish I could say they were bringing the millions they aren't.
I actually turned off in-video ads because I hate them. Nice of Pistonheads to mail me and tell me they'd removed all my links (not), it was a PHer who pointed it out.
Anyone looking for my videos I'll have to ask you to go to my website, www.jayemm.com - you'll find them all there.
I will of course continue to update this thread just without links!

How tall are you? You seem to be sat quite high up in those seats i.e. your shoulder line seems to be above the seat wings
Not that tall - about 5'10. I actually have the seat fairly far forward. I don't know anyone who can't get in an Evora, given the fact the previous CEO Mike Kimberley was a fairly tall chap I am sure he had it in mind! The major difference between this and an Elise/Exige is the ease of entry/exit, rather than outright room for the driver. However the wheel is adjustable, which it is not in those cars.

I'm 6'3" and found I sat higher in the 400 than the earlier car. I also found the Sparcos a lot firmer than the Recaros.
Several people - myself included - thought we sat higher in the new car but I checked and you're the same height from the ceiling. The dash is smaller which may account for it.The sparcos are definitely less comforting than the recaros. I am having issues with my Sparco seats at present, creaking like a bd. Hopefully it can be resolved, as it's a big problem for me.
Here is a text update for you guys on my car, there will be a video saying this but here it is for you all in condensed form.
The car is back at Stratton and has been since Monday, given to them with a list of issues to solve or advise on. Here were my problems:
1. Subwoofer - didn't seem to be working
2. Seat - creaks like a bd when going round a right-hand bend, also moves quite a bit
3. Buttons on dash not all level (sport and race at totally different angles)
4. Gear lever started not centering itself when you moved it between 5 and 6 (but returned fine from 1/2)
5. Engine start light blinds you at night and distracts
Unfortunately, after three days (collecting the car tomorrow) I haven't gotten too far. The list of answers so far are:
1. The subwoofer is "really quiet sir" and "you need to listen to a certain type of music to hear it". I appreciate they're being diplomatic and what they are basically telling me is the thing is crap. So bad in fact that Lotus apparently no longer bother fitting them.
2. Seat does have a lot of movement in it, certain bolts are loose and can't be tightened enough. Factory are supplying washers to deal with this. Apparently my car is not the only one with the issue.
3. Factory going to get back to us on this one. I know it's my OCD but it really shouldn't even be a problem.
Here's the panel in question, not the angles of the sport and race buttons
4. One of the return springs in my gear selector has "gone", where it has gone I don't know but the whole transmission tunnel may have to be pulled apart.
5. "Nothing we can do about that one". I think something should be done, I think it's borderline dangerous because your hand obscures it in a straight line (hands at 9 and 3) so you constantly get distracted by it when cornering.
Of course, car is still brilliant and I'd much rather have a brilliant handling, looking and sounding car with slightly annoying buttons and seats than a car with a perfect interior but no soul. The only thing really winding me up at the moment is the amount of time I am spending without the car, especially as I don't know of a local Lotus dealer which has a "proper" courtesy car (ie. one with a Lotus badge on the front!

Here's a video update (not monetised PH!) which explains a bit more about the channel and what's happening. One thing I want to promise, I will never want to utter the words "true blood wrap". And exhausts are not running costs.

Little update today.
Had a great weekend, took the car to a local car show. Complete washout but some very nice people indeed and interesting to see the comments/reactions from Joe Public. Some people knowing what it was straight away, others recognising the badge, a few kids insisting it was a Lamborghini, not believing their parents it was a Lotus!
Paid a visit to a Porsche dealer I used to work with, one of the guys wanted to see my car. Gave it a quick blip with the exhaust valve open and the rest of the staff came out to have a look what was going on. They couldn't believe it was the stock exhaust (standard reaction).
Also, my issues with the car are being sorted. I said to Lotus why don't I just bring the car to them for them to inspect it, as it's only five minutes away from Stratton Motor Company anyway. They agreed, so it'll be going home! Hopefully I'll get a decent photo-op somewhere.
My channel I am super pleased with, up to 270-odd subscribers now, and 15,000 views. I know quite a few have come from the PHers here, so thanks everyone who has watched/liked/subscribed/commented.

The Esprit owner was very happy with the day, I hope I can persuade him to come on camera soon!
Unfortunately most of the roads where we met were a 40 limit, but we couldn't venture far from his home as he took time away from an expectant wife! I am generally very careful about speeds on camera for obvious reasons. That's why the camera on the Evora is mounted so low, it's just above the number plate. 60 feels like plenty when you're a foot off the ground!
I have some amazing content lined up for the next month, please subscribe if you haven't already as I can't post links here directly!

So, ask anyone about an Evora 400 and they'll almost never fail to mention the exhaust - and the volume of the thing.
Exactly how loud is it? I was at Snetterton yesterday for the PHEA social meet, and I decided to get noise tested to find out.

Glad to be of service Alex. I would say the Auto definitely wouldn't get in the way of your enjoyment of the car, and the harder it's driven the better the box is. But I can only drive it so much and show it on camera!
Yesterday I took the car back to the Lotus factory, I spent some time in the Team Classic Lotus workshop. They have a liberal photography policy. Anyone fancy seeing some more of these snaps?
