Seat Leon FR+ 2.0TSI
Discussion
I've had the car nearly 2 years now but just started to buy it new things, so thought I might as well make an RR!
I was upgrading my twincharged Ibiza FR (Which thankfully was a problem free car), I originally wanted a MK6 Golf GTI with DSG but the price premium over a Leon with the same engine/gearbox was pretty big so I hunted for a Leon instead.
I then found this car, a 12 plate + model with DSG. Being a + it basically comes with every, or at least most optional extras and it was low mileage at around 10k. The equivalent GTI's were £2-3K+ more for 3x the mileage and half the spec.
The only niggles I've had so far are:
Wastegate rattle: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I've just put a new Revo Pro Panel filter in and getting a non-resonated Scorpion cat-back exhaust on next week so it will be ready for a Revo Stage 1 sometime in the future.

Is the 2.0 not the TFSI ... same as Golf GTI Mk5 enine?
Nice car anyway. Like a Leon.
Watch they don't twist by the rear doors.. you know it's been hooned if it has :-) weak chassis.
The phase 1 of this shape Leon and MK5 Golf are TFSI, the MK6 GTI and phase 2 are TSI.Nice car anyway. Like a Leon.

The TSI has more power and torque and slightly better fuel figures and has a timing chain where I think the TFSI is a belt.
Its confusing though because I think the newer Audi's use the same engine but they still call it the TFSI.
I can't imagine it has been hooned, 2 years old and was on 10k. I do low mileage as well so its only on 18.4k now!
I've got one of these myself in blue. Great value compared to the golf gti loads of kit and runs great as well. I fitted an evoms cone air intake to mine, more turbo noise.
Also looking at the revo stage 1, hope you'll update when it's installed

Tidy looking motor mate. You'll have to make a review video with the new exhaust been looking at different ones for my Cupra at the moment and not sure what to get.
Will do I can't find many exhaust videos of this car online, they are all the older one or the Cupra R.
I researched about Milltek, the general consensus is they are good and make a bit more noise on WOT, but low down they sound stock.
Scorpion are apparently a bit louder all around, which is what I'm after.

Nice looking car and good info as I'm looking for a mark 6 GTI at the moment. What year did the phase 2 start?
Cheers.
I think its 09, the interior was updated and it got the flat bottom wheel. Also the front and rear got a slight facelift.Cheers.
Make sure you get a mid 2012 MK6 unless you want to shell out about £300-400 on a new tensioner so the engine doesn't blow up!

I bought an Octavia VRS for the exact same reason, at the time it was 3-4K cheaper than the equivalent Golf and with a much bigger boot!
Good call on the tensioner. Mine is a 2010 and I ended up spending £800 getting the revised tensioners/guide rails fitted for peace of mind. That and my brothers A4 with the same engine (although named TFSI) had its tensioner go costing him 2.5k in the process! Around 2012 you should be fine as it should have the revised tensioner already fitted - should have been a massive recall that whole fiasco!
Does the panel filter make any difference to the noise? That's my only complaint with this engine it's too quiet!
Mines had a stage 1 map and it's brilliant, such a difference .... I went from Manchester to Glasgow this week, at 62 all the way and it managed 48.5mpg, can't argue with that.

The latest revision of the tensioner is March 2012 onwards I think.Good call on the tensioner. I don't get how they have got away with it, its a fault in the design and isn't even a wear and tear item.
The filter makes it sound more kind of husky higher in the rev range and you hear the turbo more. Its about 1/4 the depth of the paper filter as well.
This pro panel one has only just come out and replaced they're standard foam one, added steel mesh and other stuff to it.
Also its actually an ITG filter, comes in an ITG box but the filter says Revo across it.
Exhaust is on.
Definitely more boomy and makes the kind of noise I was after, you get a bit of a womp when you change gear with DSG at high revs full throttle. I'm guessing a sport cat will enhance that even more, I've heard the same engine cars that let off a big crack noise, not sure how they get that??
The tips do look better, thinner edges and you can see into the pipe more. But to be honest on my car the tips are quite far back so you still can't really see them unless you lean down. I would of got the Cupra R valance and centre twin pipes if it didn't cost 2x as much!
I'll try and get pics and vid to follow..
