Ages ago when I had my Renault 19 16v a lad in the street I was friends with bought a 5 door GTI and we swapped motors for the day. The pug felt infinitely more alive and had a wonderful torquey motor. The steering was amazing and the car felt very light. It seemed to get a shift on from 3rd gear onwards. Only thing I disliked were at the time I thought they were an ugly duckling, it couldn't hold a steady idle and the gear change was horrid. It had the 19 16v licked in all other areas though. They must feel very special to drive now compaired to modern stuff.
Lovely car op!
Lovely car op!
I think the Miami blue cars came with either red or black trim. Not sure if it was dependant on age or whether you could specify at the time. Looks good either way though, great choice of car. I had a GTI Goodwood recently but in the end sold it and bought a 205 - both are great fun but I do miss the 309 in some respects.
Does yours have the blue carpet to match? I always thought these looked great.

Thanks for the comments, I see there's plenty of 309 GTI 'love' out there

Yes Carlos, it does have the blue carpet and the blue seats/door trim to match which is quite nice actually. I'll get a picture at the weekend when it's out of the garage.Does yours have the blue carpet to match? I always thought these looked great.
