They look really smart these. Any mods done or planned for the future?
Thanks smile

No mods done, and probably none planned. I like it being totally standard really. An easy 300hp from stage 1 remap is so so tempting though! Also a deadset kit which should stiffen it up a bit, and hopefully resolve a knock from the subframe might be on the cards.
A resonator delete is a cheap and popular mod to give it a bit more noise, especially on the 2.0 TSI engine. I'm gonna get it done myself, i think.

Did the resonator delete on my MK5. It's burbly around town, esp. if you shift before 2500 rpm. But. It's very loud and droney around 2500-3500 rpm when boost starts to build (the rpm I mostly drive in). And then it again normalises in the upper rpm range. Don't know if it's due to the remap I've got but it's far too loud for highway driving, incl. for accelerating generally and at anything over 100kmh/62mph. This chaps review sums it up - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7euBVitJbC4.

Also did a res. delete on my EP3 Type-R. That was just the slightest bit louder in the overall rpm range but gave a very nice rasp in the top end (god bless 8000+rpm!). On the GTI my first impression was "fvck me, it's loud". So research well, esp. if you do some highway driving.

On the other hand, a quality stage 1 remap to 250+hp is something I do recommend ,)

A good few years since I last posted, and plenty of miles. It's just ticked over 132,000 miles on the clock (bought it at 49,000) and I'm still really enjoying ownership. I'm not the kind of guy who gets bored and needs a chanhge, in fact I'm the total opposite - the longer I have something and the older it gets the more attached I become.

It's still totally standard.

I had some rust bubbling on the front arches so I have replaced the wings with rust free ones from a breakers, and had them rust proofed for future longevity. I also had all the wheels refurbed and I was very pleases with how they came out. Kept them anthracite after nearly going gold, then silver.

Other than that it's just been a ton of wear and tear stuff, a few cambelt changes, shocks, springs, brakes etc. Not been the cheapest but also not too bad, especially conisdering the fairly high mileage I've done.

It's done a few long trips like Spa for the GP, Scottish highlands, welsh coast and to the lakes a lot. I've got a kid now and it's been big enough so far, although it is pretty tight going on holiday with child and a dog.

Recent ish photo...

Had a new one in grey, manual , for the wife initially but she thought it was too noisy , out of the 70 odd cars we have had this was the best handling of the lot . Loved it . Enjoy

I like these (inc the seats which do seem a bit of a marmite feature). I always preferred the limited edition cars with the body coloured bumpers.

We managed three of us and our dog in my 130 for a week away in Devon this year. It’s bloody teeny inside, but we just about managed.

Great car OP!

Also interesting to note about the Pirelli edition- it also has the 230 PS engine (same as the Ed30), not the 200.
Always liked the Pirelli edition as they are much rarer than the Ed30 and carried a similar premium. They also came in some bold colours (yellow). Love the seats too.

We had an Ed30 DSG a few years back- fantastic allrounder, super reliable. Only moved it on because of an expanding family. In hindsight (and if I had a spare parking space), I should have kept it; that way, I would not have had to sell my 911 2 years later...

The beauty of these VWs is there is a ton of options and spare parts available from the whole VAG range to create your perfect OEM+ version- add a little power, missing options etc.

I needed a new exhuast to get it through the MOT this week - so I figured why not go for a stainless cat-back!

I really like it - It's a scorpion cat-back, although I think I would have prefered a thicker/flanged tip but I found it next to impossible to find representative photos with google, so thought I'd drop some here to give people an idea of what it looks and sounds like. I think the Milltek *might* have been more of the look I was after but I couldn't find anything to make sure, and it was £100 odd more expensive and the garage I was using who stocked both said they prefer to Scorpion for quality and fit, which is ultimately what swayed me. Anyway, here it is - I went for a resonated system as I'm old and grown up hehe

I really like that. Anyone who knows can see it's been modded but it's nice and subtle. That's a win in my book.

Thanks smile That's what I was going for.

When it rains it pours though. It developed a misfire basically the day I got it back from having the exhuast fitted, or maybe it started the day before tbh. Either way it's gotton a bit worse the last few days - my money is on an injector which sucks because they aren't cheap frown

Just found this thread, i also have a Pirelli, ive had it for about 6 months now i bought it when it had about 70k miles on it, it now has around 75k miles. Its a great little car too, i really enjoy it. When i bought it it had a set of OEM BBS Edition 30s on it in stunning condition and the origonal Pirelli wheel were in the boot but had been kerbed on three of them, so i get them refurbed and put a new set of Pirelli P zero neos on it at the same time and managed to sell the BBS wheels. Whilst the wheels were off i decided to give each of the inner arches a real good clean up and surprisingly theyre all in very good condition. It also has full VW service history. Both fron upper and lower grills did their usual thing of going white/grey from UV light, so i bought a new upper and lower front grill from VW (not cheap) and looks good now.

Anyway ive put a few pictures up and here it is.

With the BBS

Great to see another Pirelli owner on here, there aren't many about. I think I've seen 2 or 3 others in the wild i the 5 and half years I have owned mine!
