Very nice!

However if that turbo can flow up to 800 hp then I suspect there is nothing you can do to get even remotely decent low rev performance.

Agreed.

I suspect the tuner has reigned it in as your standard gearbox is going to end up in bits with much more boost.

My old R33 ran a T88 & even with the extra capacity of a 2.8 bottom end it was hilariously laggy. It was good for ~900 bhp though.

I'd look at something like a GT35R turbo on it and get it remapped to suit. It would still be good for ~600bhp but the drivability would be great too.

Your gearbox will take offence though.

Nice. Best to get the model you really want than what others say you should get.

The lack of power at low revs can be overcome by feathering the clutch and letting the revs rise to 4000 as you pull away. Probably not ideal for the clutch to do it every time, though, but it seemed to help for the quickest getaways when I had my R32.
Been trying this, but the straight pipe makes you sound like a learner laugh

Good point. Ah well, they'll not see who's driving it as you'll be so quick to leave them behind.

Very nice, love the colour. Not a big fan of the rims mind!

I raced a 500bhp skyline at santa pod on Saturday. Not sure what it was, it wasn't a R34, looked too old for that, and it was RWD, id imagine it was a R32 or R33. To my surprise there wasn't a great deal in it. I did a very average run mid 13's, (my best on day was 13.1) and he did high 12's low 13's I think it was and said it was his best run. For the power it had I was expecting it to shoot off, but he said it was single turbo and very laggy, and being a manual that slowed him down. In the first 3 gears he wasn't pulling away, by 4th he was leaving me.

It sounded pretty awesome, lots of turbo noise and wastegate flutter, I could barely hear my 5.5 v8. lol

I liked skyline more when I was in my early twenties. I wouldn't fancy one as a daily runner now.

Given the sun was out me and a friend decided to have a drive over to Newark for the Horsepower At The Hall / Gearheads At The Ground monthly meet. If your anywhere near Newark I'd strongly recommend having a run out as its a really good relaxed meet with a mixture of cars.

There were a few cameras out so I'm hoping someone got video of me leaving. Sounds really vain but I'm keen to hear just how loud that exhaust is from outside laugh

Very nicw, congrats. I rather liked your Evo but this is one step above. Hopefully I'll get to see it around at a meet.

A good friend of mine has had an R33 GTR in midnight purple for around five years. I remember when he first got it and it was running 414 BHP and I thought it was fast then. After about two years it received a forged engine with N1 components and larger turbos from RK tuning, which produces around 630 BHP. More recently it has had Alcon brakes, baffled sump and a gearbox with OS Giken gearset. Only in the last month or so has he retired it from regular car duties, I think we're starting to get a bit old. It's a phenomenal car though and one I don't think he'll ever sell.

I was really upset as soon as the Evo drove off. Made a right cock up selling that.

Looking forward to getting the Skyline up to Scalm Park if theres another meet, will keep an eye peeled for meets towards S. Yorks.

Either wasn't 500bhp or the driver wasn't up to it. I'm no seasoned drag racer but the one time I took my R32 to the pod I ran a 12.7 and a 12.8 and that car was dynoed the week before and was 315 at the hubs (which equates to about 375 bhp at the flywheel). Low 12s would be the minimum I'd expect from a sorted 500bhp GTR. Might have been a 2wheel drive version, the traction issues would probably drop a second off the time.

What a car. The pics for me dont do the colour justice, in the fleash it looks brilliant. And wow when that turbo spools there's some serious noise from that 4" straight through. Never seen an owner of a car so happy when he pulled into a local meet. Grin beaming off his face

Nice to see someone reach the top of their car bucket list. Lovely looking thing, not so keen on the louvres on the bonnet though.

Something I've meant to ask a person with carbon panels - does it annoy you that you can polish the paint work but the carbon panels obviously don't have the same lustre? I'm not sure I could cope!

Something so right about a sorted skyline. Great choice.
Who do you insure with out of interest and how complicated is it? I've never insured anything with so many mods - doubt admiral would be interested...

As my friends will testify, i'm not a big detailer, I resent having to put wax on it! This bonnet actually has a decent amount of laquer so it does have a gloss/wet look to it.

I wad also on the fence about the bonnet when I saw the pics, in the flesh it just looks right.

Previously my modified cars have been through Greenlight, but they don't touch anything over 500bhp. Currently its with Sky Insurance, limited miles and agreed value policy is less than £500 per year. This is where the specialists that you see advertise on here (footman James/Keith Michaels etc...) come into their own.
