Nice to see someone reach the top of their car bucket list. Lovely looking thing, not so keen on the louvres on the bonnet though.

Something I've meant to ask a person with carbon panels - does it annoy you that you can polish the paint work but the carbon panels obviously don't have the same lustre? I'm not sure I could cope!
Wet Carbon will have a gloss coating so while not as obvious as paint you can still wax / polish the coating.

Great to see this awesome car in the metal on Sunday. Sorry I didn't get chance to speak with you for long Karl (I'm on the entrance with the bucket at Horsepower at the Hall - Gearheads at the 'ground). Will you be returning for the next show on September 18th?

Absolutely, not as keen on the new venue but its still a good meet.

Took the car to Cobra exhausts this morning to see what could be done about the exhaust.

Unfortunately they couldn't help as the exhaust is a 4" S/S dump pipe with a V band connector to the rear section, which is literally a 4" titanium tube to the rear of the car. Also, these wont be helping.

For those not familiar these are straight of the wastegates, they should be routed back into the dump pipe. These aren't.

Cobra don't seem to be interested in bespoke work any more, so they've referred me to a company called Nortec near me, we'll see how we get on.

Also battling with immobiliser based gremlins at the moment. If they continue then I'll be phoning my regular alarm guy to rip the lot out and get a Clifford fitted.

Gorgeous car, in the most perfect colour for a skyline.

I'm super jealous

How the hell can you afford the insurance on that?

Nortech is a good company

So it's 4inch with screamer pipe bet that's loud on full boost

Car looks well

No major update, other than I gave it a proper clean and tried some Purple Haze wax from Dodo Juice. Never really been into detailing / cleaning etc... but I've been really impressed with the finish. Hard work to apply from the small tester pot though!

It was my birthday last week and a family member kindly bought me this.

Lovely! yum

Very nice, love the colour. Not a big fan of the rims mind!

I raced a 500bhp skyline at santa pod on Saturday. Not sure what it was, it wasn't a R34, looked too old for that, and it was RWD, id imagine it was a R32 or R33. To my surprise there wasn't a great deal in it. I did a very average run mid 13's, (my best on day was 13.1) and he did high 12's low 13's I think it was and said it was his best run. For the power it had I was expecting it to shoot off, but he said it was single turbo and very laggy, and being a manual that slowed him down. In the first 3 gears he wasn't pulling away, by 4th he was leaving me.

It sounded pretty awesome, lots of turbo noise and wastegate flutter, I could barely hear my 5.5 v8. lol

I liked skyline more when I was in my early twenties. I wouldn't fancy one as a daily runner now.
Either wasn't 500bhp or the driver wasn't up to it. I'm no seasoned drag racer but the one time I took my R32 to the pod I ran a 12.7 and a 12.8 and that car was dynoed the week before and was 315 at the hubs (which equates to about 375 bhp at the flywheel). Low 12s would be the minimum I'd expect from a sorted 500bhp GTR. Might have been a 2wheel drive version, the traction issues would probably drop a second off the time.

If you read what i said, i said it was rwd. Dont get me wrong it was fast, if we did a 1/2 mile it would of been a lot faster im sure. It was still faster at all times but only a tiny bit early on like i said. Combination of laggy turbo and manual, every time he changed he came back a bit. Not sure what his best run was. It was cool because from the outside it looked like nothing at all, bit of a nail truth be told, though i knew somet was up cus he had a helmet on.

So today I went along to a local car clubs rolling road day being held at Noble Motorsport, car feels strong but its always good to have an expert check it.

Absolutely delighted with what it ran. Had a good chat with Mike at Noble about smoothing the line and getting some more power further down. It should be possible to make it not quite as savage.

Amazingly its still making power at rev limit and AFR / boost is rock steady. All credit to the previous owner and MGT for the mapping...

Nice. Still on its torque plateau (virtually still peak torque) at redline, that's pretty unusual.

Looks like the 'alleged' 800hp turbo seems to be pretty much as claimed, if paired with an engine that can take it.

The 'sensible' thing to do would be to sell that monster turbo and fit a smaller one - you would probably still get 500hp+, with power through much more of the rev range. But that may or may not be the fun thing to do wink

Impressive peak bhp figures, but that does not look like a good power curve at all for road use. Very little happens until over 5k rpm!

This is my big issue with 'drive-ability'. It's amazing if you can keep it lit and up the revs but useless in any sort of traffic. Clutch doesn't help matters either...

This would be the very sensible solution. Something like a Garret GTX35xx. However the more fun solution (and one that will probably come in due course) is to chuck some cams in, forge the internals, baffled sump with race bearings and crank to boost up.

Apologies if my slightly tongue-in-cheek comment upset you. Great cars R34s, in my eyes they just aren't worth twice as much as r32/r33.

Hey. No upset pal. I have a pal I hang out with, with an Sierra RS500. We just don't see each other as scene kiddies.

FWIW. I fancy an R33 GTR. Fantastic cars and worth the money.

More shameless self promotion I'm afraid. A local photographer wanted to take a few pics of my car for his portfolio and, well, they're awesome!

If anyone else is looking for similar please search out GR automotive photography on Facebook, really good guy.

Love the second one, real midnight racing vibe smile Reminds me of a R33 p-ride in Japan, every upshift lit up the night with flame.

So car is going into semi hibernation for the winter now, couple of things to address while its not being used

- Have rear arch re-painted
- Look at having wheels refubished
- New end plates for rear spoiler
- Remove rear wiper
- Fine a permanent home for boost/AFR gauges.
- Get a quote for a sensible exhaust.

Most of the big bits will have to wait until Christmas is out of the way.

Also got out this weekend with a fellow PHer and his new purchase
