The wing on these is proper bonkers. Does it have any real effect at below 70mph?

When you shut the boot you worry it's going to snap off? other than that I'd doubt it. There's a video of one in a wind tunnel and the smoke trail that goes over the car is cut in half by the wing, so they appear to have fitted it in exactly the right spot, so I'm in no doubt that it's actually providing downforce at higher speeds, they're supposed to be a few mph slower top end without them, Japanese wind wizards!

Might have to have a little drive out to this Hartside if the roads are good, I am in Lancaster but could be good for a little drive... I have a real growing soft spot for these new type r's I think they look just the right side of being too chavvy looking and actually just look a bit like a BTCC car for the road! Awesome colour as well...

The worst thing with these is the horrible way the revs hang between gear changes- not sure if it's Honda mapping & or a flywheel made of pig-iron but I certainly couldn't live with it...

Aside from that I actually think the styling works

It's usually the opposite for a wing that gives down force (as it creates drag).

Well, it's now got just shy of 5500 miles on it and it's needing front tyres, which as horrific as that sounds, seems to be about normal.

I've not been doing burnouts left right and center, they just seem to eat tyres. The standard tyres are Continental Sport Contact 6's in a 235/35/19 flavor on a 8.5" rim front and rear, currently £156.76 on blackcircles, which just looks wrong, like this :

As a driver I find them terrible, they just don't seem to grip, and under cornering they have a habit of just slipping without warning, I don't really "feel" what they're doing.

I'm thinking of moving to a 235/35/19, specifically the Michelin Pilot Supersport, £205.87 on blackcircles, I like the idea of a wider tyre, and when I put them on the back of the E61 prior to selling it, it eliminated any loss of traction. Michelin are offering 6 months IFO on purchases over £250 which is nice. they should look like this on a 245 :

I'll feedback once I have the new rubber on.

Crikey, just passed 10k in my Leon 290 and the front tyres barely look worn in!

Great colour, I do also have a soft spot for these.

Ouch, thats definately eating tyres, good choice with the MPSS's, but shocking tyre wear, done 12k in my RCZ R and the F1's have plenty of life left smile

I've got its older brother the FN2 and Mine eats tyres too. Is that factory fitment? The stretched look? Look a tone better with a nice square fitment smile

How are you getting on with the car? THey have been growing on me since I first saw them.

Yeah that's the factory fitment, I'm sure there's some clever reason but they just look terrible.

A friend works at a Honda dealers and they had someone in for tyres after 3k!

As far as the car goes, build wise it's a massive step backwards from what I had, but I feel like I'm driving this car, rather than just being in it and holding on.

But the many hundreds of pounds a month extra in my pocket soften that blow, although I guess that'll be going on tyres! Agh! haha

I like the slight stretch actually, but I understand why most people wouldn't.

Can't believe I've still not seen a single one of these on the roads! Seen maybe 10 Focus RS mk3s now.

MPSS are great in the bone dry, but there pretty poor in anything but perfect conditions.

I persomnally think Conti Sport Contact 5p's are a great all round tyre for our roads and conditions.

Ive done a track day at Oulton park, 10 runs inc burnouts at Santa pod and about 4k miles on mine, on a 400bhp 400lbs'ft RWD merc and there still going strong.

I saw one last summer en route to the ring, promptly mocked it on facebook and that just popped up on my "on this day" feed, which is a bit awkward as I appear to have spent a good portion of the year mocking Honda's and their owners.

I see quite a few, annoyingly, there's a black and a blue one at work!

Mine are CSC 6's, maybe the 6 is made of cheese?

It could be that it was an ex demo car and 2500 miles of its life were solid demo burnouts, but I put it down to the way it hops due to fwd, I got 16k out of some Pzeros on the back of the E61, my mechanic friend mocked me because he used to get 4-5k?!?! I presume he just left black 11's everywhere.

Anyway I've not used it much lately as I've been living the heated seat dream life in the Touran, until the rear brakes fell off a bit, but the FK2 did get some love this week. I decided to protect it a bit for winter so I got some Chemical guys Black Light gloss enhancer sealant stuff, some Poorboys Black Hole glaze, and some Collinite 476 wax.

The Black light is amazing, to the point that I didn't bother putting the Black hole on, it's very very glossy, I then locked that in with some Collinite. I'm still furious days after doing this at the amount of water that just pours out of all of the nooks and bodykit bits! waaah! I'm 110% going to get one of those car dryer blowy hoover things in the new year.

Anyway it turned out okay, I've now sort of grown to like how the car looks too, which is handy.

Blacklight and Blackhole are basically identical products.

Did you sort the tyres? I liked these a lot, until I saw one up close. The fake vents really annoyed me and it went down in my estimations.

The way it looks is good but the tyres seem too small, I'd move to a 235/40 or a 245 40 to give it some chunk!

Glad you're enjoying it, I'm surprised you prefer it so much over the M5, then again Hot Hatches are the bomb.

I thought Black Light was a nano sealant and Black hole was a glaze frown

Which fake vents? as the wing ones work, as do the arch ones, I presume you mean the dash ones as little to no hot air comes out of those.

I wouldn't say I prefer it to the M5, it's a totally different car, it's a HELL of a lot cheaper to run though.

Well the car has just had its first service, 12 months old yesterday it was!

Service was fee under the service package.

7,500 miles on it 4,300 of which under my ownership.

Nothing to report at all, everything is fine with it, the trip computer is a bit off and I'm actually managing 27.97 mpg in reality.

It's still 50% cheaper on fuel than the M5 at the very least, mmmm, M5, mmmmm.

Crikey it's been a while since it updated this, I've still got it, I fitted a droney B-Pipe so it now emits noise.

I also bought a car specific plate for maximum scene points.

I also went to the Ring in it, it's very good, This summer I'm tempted to go the semi slicks route though.

Mandatory ring pic.
