Very similar to mine, had it 18 months now. Fantastic car, remap really wakes them up. Together with the DSG box the acceleration is quite something, surprises a lot of people.

At the same time, driven normally 40mpg is achievable on a run - used mine for the family trip to France, 1200 miles and got 42 according to the OBC. Even if optimistic, its still impressive for the power output.

The tensioner seems to be the only real known problem - mine has full VW history and I made sure mine was done before I bought it.

Enjoy it, sure you will.

Still loving it! The missus has done more miles in 4 months than the last 2 years put together (still under 2k lol) as she loves it too!
Not much to report really apart from adding the bluetooth module for handsfree calls and bluetooth music streaming.
I need to update the firmware on the RNS510 for full audio control via the head unit and steering wheel, but will sort that soon as I get time.
Ive also done some coding in VCDS for various things.

I'm already starting to think my next car is going to have to be either a Mk7 GTI, R or GTI Edition 35. I'd ultimately like to go for an R estate, but doubt their value will of dropped enough.

When we got the car the xenons were on permanently, which was a bit much, so turned them off via VCDS, I'm now looking into having these side lights as DRL's instead.
Also, as it had been lowered the xenon range was terrible, I really noticed a huge difference from my 330d xenons.
I quickly realised that because it was lowered the self levelling was out, so I reset that with VCDS too and now they're excellent.

Didn't realise they even made a mk6 R! They must be rare in the UK as I don't recall ever seeing one. Mk7 R's on the other hand are everywhere!
They're really rare, I bet I've probably seen about 5 of them.

Nice GTI, lately I'm starting to miss the Mk5 I sold to get my Civic type R. I'm deeply in love with the Civic but if I had to get something more sensible, but still a bit exciting, I'd go for another GTI in a heartbeat.

Sorted the bluetooth streaming today, now got full control of the tracks via the head unit and steering wheel controls, and also track info on the head unit smile

Nice one, is that on the OEM headunit?

You must stop updating this thread, whenever I see it I am reminded that i medically need a Mk6 golf in white, with those wheels. Still the best looking modern GTi IMO. Really not keen on the latest one that appeared to have been styled using only ruler.

Does yours not have the LEDs around the xenon dip beam? Those are the side lights and usually the Drl

As in the pic, never seen a mk6 with xenons without the LEDs all round

Yes, its the factory RNS510.

Regarding the lights, I think the ones in your pic are from the facelift or Edition 35?

Cars built from mid 11 onwards had the option of xenons with led DRLs

Cars before this has xenons with no DRL and he lights are on all the time like a scirocco

Apart from the MK7, i think the MK6 is the best looking GTI that VW made, in my eyes at least. I much prefer it to the MK5 shape. I think the plastic bumpers and just a single twin-exhaust kinda makes it look too basic for me.

Did you go for a manual or DSG? Looks perfect stance-wise after being lowered. I did the same on my Scirocco and it made it look so much better. Just make sure that they're decent springs. Usually H&R, Eibach or the VWR ones are best.

My Scirocco has Xenons but has DRL's, I believe all Scirocco's had this , cars with Halogen bulbs had their forward facing headlights on all the time.

Nice car OP.

Fit a Revo intake, get it mapped by Niki @ R-Tech.

Fit an Anti Lift Kit and H&R Roll Bars you'll be laughing on the handling front .

Its got Eibach springs, and I agree, the mk6 is definitely my favourite GTI.
No point fitting any handling or other such mods as it is mostly driven by the mrs and she loves it as it is.
I've already told her when she wants to get a new car I will buy it and retire this one to the garage for future classic material smile

Edit: Forgot to say, its a manual

MDMA .

I'd have loved an Ed35, but it was out of budget.
We were originally going to get a mk5, but I pushed the budget a bit to get a mk6, so couldn't go any further.
I'm so glad we did because we both love this one, it's definitely a keeper.
Once my 330d sells I might get a mk5 R32 for a couple of years as I've always wanted one.
By then I should be in a position to get an R estate

Lovely looking mk6!

Can I ask how you fixed this? Mine currently allows playback but I have no info or control via the headunit.

Thanks in advance

Sorry I meant normal sciroccos have their lights on all the time (not Ines with xenons)

Still got this and still loving it!
The pics from the thread were lost when I gave up the joke that Photobucket became.

Apart from servicing etc nothing has been done or changed.
I'm toying with upgrading the headunit to have DAB and Apple carplay, but apart from that nothing is planned.
I will get some new pics once it's washed smile

Just updated my thread for my mk6 GTi last night with images uploaded via Flickr and a couple of updates.
Only had mine a few weeks now but it does everything so well and I really do love it.
I am also interested to know how you sorted the head unit for Bluetooth audio streaming etc? Just fitted an rns510 yesterday.

The 7P6 035 730E Bluetooth module gives handsfree and streaming audio.
Make sure you get the correct 730E one as other revisions don’t do everything.
You need the loom to go with it connects to the headunit and the module lives under the drivers seat in a piece of black polystyrene.
From there the loom goes to the front light unit in the roof to connect a mic.
Depending on the version of RNS510 you have got you might need a firmware update. It worked before but just displayed Bluetooth audio rather than the track. A bonus was that it also added radio text info too
