This thread is so delusional and cringe I can't help but want more.
I'm sure we'll see Joe and his Polo again somewhere.By the way Joe, successfully competing with people is much harder when they too are competing and attempting to succeed. Go on, try it. If you want to compete you can buy a Caterham Graduates car and do a full season's racing for the cost of your polo.
Joe - I think the learning is to inform and convey your opinion but don't tell people what they should think and don't demand people have your opinion.
No one would have smashed this thread if you had simply stated you love your car and hope the contributors like what you put up. Humility is important.

I knew he'd have to post:
Just be aware tuning can't really be done on the 200 as it's NA so will cost big bucks unless you go turbo route and then the gearbox will likely st itself!
R26's are getting rarer so now would be a good time to buy although they aren't really the most reliable Renault going!
Can you not just spread the cost monthly and up the budget for a new vehicle? Something like a Fiesta ST sounds right up your street if you like the 182

I went from a Clio 172 to a 2016 VW Polo Gti and don't regret it one bit.
I would say if you are going to move away from the Clio then maybe like me get something that addresses the Clio's shortcomings.
I'm not sure a Clio 200 is going to be that much of a difference. Yes it's bigger and more practical, nicer inside etc but it's basically the same torqueless gutless engine and it gets really bad mpg in comparison to the lighter 172/182.
It all depends on your budget. Maybe something rwd or maybe something turbocharged would be the way forward?
Driving my current GTI is a pleasure compared to the 172. Driving position isn't all awkward and impossible to H&T in and it's also got bags of low down turbocharged torque which feels great compared to the bloody 172 that wanted thrashing absolutely everywhere to get a shift on.
R26 Megane?
But in his defence it does seem that he's had an epiphany & is now recommending the ST I would say if you are going to move away from the Clio then maybe like me get something that addresses the Clio's shortcomings.

Your new GTI sounds lovely! Although I think we have different views on this one, I think the reason I enjoy the 182 so much is the fact you have to really drive it to get the best out of it! For me it's quirks are what makes it special for me - I would like to try something turbocharged but I think for me the the race to the redline always bests low down torque! A Megane Mk3 sounds like the best option I just need to rob a bank first! lol
Enjoy the new motor!
On the track that may be true but on the road I found it a full on pain in the ass! If you like the 172 then to me the 200 probably sounds like a good bet (just seen the budget) or the R26Enjoy the new motor!

I don't think I've met a single person in the real world that has anything positive to say about the site.
Ah that's a bit of a shame. I've met a good few guys (and a few gals) from PH and they've all been pretty decent people. I like the site too, it has it's flaws and argumentative people but there are some very good/entertaining threads if you look. This is a very entertaining thread.
