Life with an XJ220

Browns Lane used to have a delivery driver who went between the various sites in the area collecting bits for the test engineers and often to MIRA, who drove a Ford Transit. Now as the chapter on the XJ220 closed, there were I believe, a few engines left over and the delivery driver who was an old boy happened to remark, for a laugh that they should stick one of the spare engines in his transit. So apparently that's exactly what some of the engineering lads did....they mid-mounted it in a transit. I seem to recall that the old boy was called Ron. To be fair I cannot corroborate this story but i'm pretty sure it's true.
I suspect you're recalling this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChTUMNyjUHE : I've seen it at FoS a few times, & had a good look one year, it's a superb bit of kit DonaldTrump said:
I believe this van was also used in this episode of topgear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OT84-Jm1IuE
Yeah, it's been used all over. Justin has it back fully operational now and drives it regularly. A first-world problem to the extreme, I bet, but does having such a high speed range represented on the dials make driving at accurate slow speeds (20, 30mph) bloody awkward?
Because that looks like a rather respectable cruise there (bit of back of calculator stuff) and of course 70 would be well left-of-12 o'clock on something that needs to show 210+.

Yes, the only fine I've had in it was at 34 in a 30 lolBecause that looks like a rather respectable cruise there (bit of back of calculator stuff) and of course 70 would be well left-of-12 o'clock on something that needs to show 210+.

Would that work be with Don Law Racing? (I seem to recall they've done a lot of development work)
You got it. Don and Justin effectively bought the XJ220 brand many a year ago and have tasked themselves with keeping them alive, developing them and ensuring people like myself have the best experience possible. The fun stuff they are creating is trouser twitching stuff. Like this monster with an 800hp+ motor on MOTEC, Le Mans spec suspension and brakes and heavily lightened architecture.

I’ve never seen a XJ220 in the flesh

It'd be nice if they did 'factory' tours every now and again. I’ve never seen a XJ220 in the flesh
Even once a year.
Probably more hassle than it's worth for them but the genuine enthusiasts would absolutely relish it.
I contacted them as I was after a seat or a wheel for one (preferably rear) and they weren't able to help.
Thanks for sharing - I have just read from the beginning for the first time. Not sure how I missed this before.
Fair play to Bridgestone for issuing new tyres. I watched the video. Justin Law mentioned he wouldn't necessarily run the car with the original suspension settings. What settings have changed?
Also, was that a single batch of these new tyres or will Bridgestone offer them on-going?
I also watched Jay Leno's video of the XJ220. He said he undervalued the car originally but now absolutely loves it. I think that's how I feel too. I would rather have one of these than an F40.

Imagine my surprise when I turned a corner and saw this in Majorca a couple of years back.
Complete with luggage rack - this guy used his car !!
Actually this picture makes me think:Complete with luggage rack - this guy used his car !!
If driving at motorway speed and they have the luggage on that rack, is that going to block the air from getting through the wing and destabilizing the whole car?
