The Volvo is still in daily service and continues to perform well. MPG has gone up slightly in the warmer weather to 50mpg (with 64mpg indicated on the OBC !!). A bit of gearbox noise has started intruding on my Radio 4 listening in the mornings - not much but I can tell that its there, plus it's been occasionally difficult to select reverse when hot.

The linkages have previously been changed, so I changed the gearbox oil this morning. Fairly straightforward as the filler / level and drain plugs can be reached through the N/S wheel arch - although I did have to whip the under tray off to get a spanner on the drain plug. I used a £6.50 syphon pump thing from Amazon to get the new oil into the box, which worked really well.

Anyway, initial signs are good after a quick trip around the block in that the noise seems to have gone. Longer trip tomorrow, so we'll see.

Starting to fear RSI from clearing all of the error messages every time I start the thing up..

Plugged in the Dice thingy to investigate..

Service required - cleared using the key / odometer sequence that I found online (yes, it has been serviced recently!)
Engine service required - ordered a clutch position sensor
Alarm service required - Google told me that this was a fuse (38?) in the end of the dashboard, which didn't seem to be present on mine, so investigations continue
Intermittent ABS warning (Anti skid disabled, or something) - ordered a left front wheel sensor

Otherwise it's running well and has averaged a true 50mpg over the time that I've had it.

Great write up! Really helpful as hopefully picking up a 2006 v70 d5 shortly. Have you had any troubles since your last post?!

Nope it's been pretty good and still in daily service. Down to a single warning light (alarm service required), so all good!

The ABS warning turned out to be due to a missing hub bolt, so an easy fix.

Good luck with yours!
