Its fixed! Bloody hell.
Ive got a letter/estimate here from Volvo stating that the compressor was toast and asking for a LOT of money to fix it.
Local place did a full diagnostic run down, found 60g of gas in the system and so filled it up (took a KG). Everything sprung in to life and theyve done a UV leak test and found nothing.
Obviously it could all go wrong again in the coming weeks, but thus far it looks to be sorted and for the grand total of €60 cash in hand.
Result! Although I feel like a right mug for driving around the last 9 months sweating my balls off on some days with no AC.
Don a UV test on my S60 and it turns out I need a new compressor. The car had a new compressor from Volvo in previous ownership.Ive got a letter/estimate here from Volvo stating that the compressor was toast and asking for a LOT of money to fix it.

I've just bought my second one of these (this time a very late 2.0T) and tackled a similar job.
Just wanted to point out it looks as though your anti-rattle spring isn't quite fitted properly on the caliper/carrier. The bottom looks fine but the top part of the spring should sit behind the 'ear' on the carrier.

Ahh, it was a test! haha.
It's been fun to read through this thread, I think these are vastly underrated. Whilst I'm sure the german equivalents would have them licked in terms of driving dynamics, the Volvo P2 S60/V70 platform is just so well built - moreseo than the P3 replacement in my opinion.

It looks like I might be coming to the UK on the weekend of 02 September, to pick up my stranded Mustang.
If I can kill two birds with one stone, id be a happy chappy.
As a guide (and trying to stay within PH advert rules), 1600gbp and it would be yours (or any other PHers) delivered to your door and incl. the 2nd set of winter wheels.
You can buy them 500quid cheaper on eBay, but not with these miles and history, and youll never find a more honest advert than a 12m PH blog.
Dont be put off by the clutch. Its really fine and is purely dependant on driving style. If you use the revs and the correct gear, no probs. If you dig the gas in 4th or 5th at low revs, it can (sometimes) slip. But so will any other big torque diesel.
Balls, we fly to the South of France on the 1st! I shall speak to the girlfriend about it (as it would be for her!) If I can kill two birds with one stone, id be a happy chappy.

I am too tempted by this after mine got written off by a crazy taxi last month. It looks like a great example and you've made all the the right repairs whether they were strictly necessary not, preemptive maintenance is always wise and usually improves the drive if you are even half way bothered about that kind of thing.
Not sure what I want yet, I'm just using my MX5 but I definitely miss having the Volvo in my life, I'm considering getting a P3 S60 or possibly a V60 as the new S60 doesn't seem to have such a big boot as the the P2 cars.
Where is the ad? I can't find it on PH, unless its awaiting approval.

Why are you selling it, with winter approaching? Is there another shed on the horizon and will it be a UK car again? On this subject, a colleague here in CH has just sold an old diesel Astra wagon from the early 2000s due a roadworthiness test in a matter of days, for about the same as you're asking for the Volvo. LHD used car prices are crazy!
